Why aren’t the players saying anything to him in training? Someone needs to stand up and tell him it isn’t working. It’s breeding fear into the team. They look terrified when lining up for a set piece.
 

Makes no odds what system you use if the defensive unit can’t read a game/sequence of play, can’t head a ball, have no aggression or determination to attack the ball and have no movement.
It’s down to players not be able or willing to doing basic stuff properly.

The players shoulder some blame but most of the blame in those circumstances is managerial.

I agree that it doesn't matter what system is used. But we are totally disorganised whatever way we line up. The players are constantly looking round confused like they aren't sure where they should be. And worst of all, there is no one showing aggression to attack the ball. We just stand off. It's absolutely rubbish defending. Beyond embarassing. How a top flight manager can have a team looking so ragged almost beggars belief.
 
No problem with the setup. The execution is putrid. I defend Silva all the time, but that HAS to be partially training. You know your starting lineup. You know your opponent.
