Quite the opposite. Pace and strength are increasingly important with more teams looking to play a pressing game. Whilst it’s not as vital as other sports, it’s probably 40-50% of what makes up a player.
Are you suggesting that De Bruyne and David Silva struggle physically in the premiership?

I don't think his pace is the issue you don't have to be rapid to play in central midfield. It's more adjusting to the league and playing in a system that suits his game. It seems Koeman and Walsh bought him with no idea how to use him and threw him and Sandro in with no bedding in period. Maybe he isn't good enough but I don't think we've seen enough as yet to decide.

Then how can you have such high hopes for Dowell? They’re in the same bracket. Oh and how about Ozil? He’s doing all right I guess.

You don’t have to be athletic. All you need is a manager who knows how to play to your strength and how to set a team around you.

Dowell has a lot more pac e than Klaassen and a lot more vision and ability.

Dowell has the vision to 'become' a playmaker. At Forest they were doing well in attack when it all went through him 'apparently'. Klaassen is nothing like Dowell...he is not and never will be a playmaker.

You said it. And he has none.

He takes a pass and gives it almost immediately to another Everton player a couple of yards away to the side or behind. He has no pace to drive forward with the ball, no physicality to screen it and wait to play a significant pass, and no vision in terms of what pass could possibly make life uncomfortable for the opposition. He recycles the ball ad infinitum. I dont see a player who takes responsibility to make things happen. One of the few things Koeman did that was right was to recognise his own calamity and so he dropped him.

There's a collective (and convenient) amnesia about how underwhelming Klaassen was when he did get game time.

I agree to an extent but considering he was new to the league and the team was in complete disarray I don’t think it’s fair to judge him based on the few minutes he’s had so far. He wouldn’t be the first player to improve as he gets used to the league and his teammates.

Its exactly what he did at Ajax. Receive the ball...short quick pass. Then he would make runs into the box and have a shot.

That's basically the summary of Davy Klaassen.

De Ligt, Sanchez and Dolberg were the 3 we should have been looking at.

Im willing to bet any amount of money that Klaassen will have a vastly better career than a lad who cant even get a game for a 17th placed championship side.

Dowell has played for England u21s and already has England trophies to his name and player of the month awards in the championship. Davy Klaassen will never achieve such glory...

Besides, the point was that theyre different types of player.

England U21s and player of the month awards in the championship.

Sure beats playing in a Europa League Final and winning league titles.

You can say the same if bolasie, Morgan, coco etc

You can't, because they play in different positions. Bolasie is woeful, but width and pace has been a massive, massive problem for us this season. Coco was dropped as soon as Baines re-gained fitness. Morgan is awful, but Klaassen isn't a DM and can't replace him.

Klaassen is a CM/AM and in every match I've seen him play, he has looked hopelessly out of his depth in that position. Not even close to being as good as Siggurdson, Rooney or Davies (and that is saying something!).
