Honestly, it's tough to game plan with Martina at right back. If Sam wants to play Morgan at the 6 and have Gana shade over to protect Gana while Bolaisse stays up high, that's okay. I'm just saying, we lack a box to box player. I would never have bought Klaassen to begin with, but he and Davies are the closest that we've got.

All the criticism of Klaassen is literally due to all the managers having an obsession with Schneiderlin.

A midfield of Klaassen, Rooney and Sigurdsson? I’ve seen some weak midfields which can’t defend, but that really would take the cake.

Where was that suggested? I said Gana, Davies, Sigurdsson. Klaassen is an alternative to Davies.

Again, I would not have bought Klaassen, but he's not a 10. He's more of a 6 than a 10.

Against a crap team, I would definitely consider Gana in front of the back 4, Rooney and Siggy both deeper, but in front of him. Hell, Siggy plays half his time around the 18 anyways with Martina. Tosun comes back to ball as more of a false 9, Bolaisse and Walcott playing as attacking wingers. 4-1-2-3.
 

I still think it's harsh to judge Klassen when he was signed in the same year as Gylfi, Rooney and then asked to play with them in a team which lacked any kind of balance, tactics and pace. Some people just take longer to adapt than others, and Sandro and he are in the same boat - probably really good, but not given a consistent run at a decent position in a team with tactics. Wrong time and place for him I'm afraid, and now unfortunately Rooney and Gylfi are ahead of him. And Dowell too when he comes back.

Imagine if he played for an in-form Swansea, Southampton, Bournemouth, or Celtic, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia - you get the idea - he'd fit into other EPL or european teams and some teams even better than ours, like Arsenal for instance. Oh well, seems like a nice guy, but bad timing

I know exactly what I wrote, thanks, but to rehash:

1. Klasseen is not a 10 and never has been. 8, used to be a 6.
2. I would not have bought him.
3. I would play with an 8 and it would be Davies before Klaassen, Klaassen before McCarthy.
4. Ideally, I would sell Klaassen and Sandro (after getting a LB) and buy an 8 like Doucoure.
5. I would not play both Gana and Morgan as Morgan can only play the 6 and it pushes Gana where he isn't as effective.
6. I could only understand Sam playing both Morgan and Gana, if Gana was pushed left to cover for Martina.
7. I would sit Rooney and play Gana, Davies, and Siggy, assuming a front 3 of Walcott/Bolaisse/Tosun.
8. I would play Bolaisse and Lookman over Sandro if the formation had an 11, because Sandro is a second striker, not a PL Inside Forward.
9. I believe Sandro is a good second striker, but we don't ever play with one, and we DO attempt to play with an 8, thus Klaassen has a more natural role on this team than Sandro.
10. If the opponent was bad, I could see Rooney/Siggy playing deeper in front of Gana with Tosun as a false 9 and the two wingers higher to generate more offense. With Martina, this is virtually impossible.

1. Do you think there's room for a 6,8 and 10 in each team? I think they get in the way of each other
2 Same but he seemed like a good idea at the time and then rooney happened and then Gylfi was just weird.

It seems like both Sandro and Klassen are good, useful squad players, if they are given a specific role, according to you, but that McCarthy, Schnederlin need to go.

Cool. Yes, by nature there is room for a 10, 8, and 6. I think we’ve got a couple of each but think our 8s are bad and partially why our transition game is bad.

I always thought the Klaassen signing was silly. Too expensive for his talent. Thought we had CM numbers. Already had Davies, Koeman would also insist on playing Morgan and obviously Gana will play centrally. Rooney and then Siggy really pushed him out though. Just seemed like a luxury buy.

I don’t see what Morgan gives us. He’s too slow to guard in space and we already lack pace if Siggy plays. Knew the CBs would be bad, slow, and Keane wasn’t the savior. Gana is also a great DM.

McCarthy was really good once, but his showing last match was abysmal. Just think we again need more athleticism and can do better. Would’ve sold him to Newcastle when they came calling.

Sandro can play a role, but he just seems to be limited. He played inside forward in Spain in addition to striker, but just don’t think he’s better than our other options out left. That’s all. His first touch has really let him down in his appearances. Appreciate his movement and finishing tho.
