Hes not been given a fair crack of the whip, Why not play him in front of the back 4 where he can distribute the ball forward with a bit more time and space. Hes a much better distributor than guaye and Morgan and we need some to put a foot on the ball in the middle of the park. We need some brains in there right now. Not a bunch of headless chickens that we appear to have.

And then if that doesn't work? Let's be honest if we're gonna see the best of him then he needs an extended run in the team. Can that really happen with the performances he's putting in now.

He's obviously more talented than he's shown so far .....Needs using in the right position .

Surprised he can still walk after being mangled from the bus he was three under on Thursday by Unsworth.
The guy plays his first game in a while on the wing against a superior team, he wasn't set up to succeed at least play him in the middle

Yeah that's in my opinion his best position. Actually, the whole Cruijff-praise story came about when he played on "6" at Ajax. Just keeping it simple: position well, recover the ball and quickly and efficiently redistribute the ball to more creative players. Most trainers like to play him deeper because of his finishing abilities but aside from that he just brings little to the table. The "hiding" is not because of low confidence, he played that way at Ajax as well. He prefers to be on the end of an attack, not the one contributing to it. To me and many others, it is a shame that Ajax tolerated this way of playing. However, when he scores enough goals, most people don't care. When he doesn't score, very little remains.

It's a good and friendly guy, but there is a reason why Everton was the only club that was serious about signing him (plus some rumours about Napoli in the past). He is not bad, but only of the caliber you would pay max. 8M for to see if it works. I think Overmars will be very relieved that he pulled this one off, selling Davy for 27M (Euro). ;)

You Dutch then, mate?
Welkom

If he stopped bottling out of tackles, took responsibility when he has the ball, made himself available when he hasn't we might see the player we thought we were getting. Until he starts to do those things on a regular basis he won't feature in our first team and won't get a run of games to prove he can.

We are in a dark place at the moment, looking for leaders on and off the pitch. No place for the feint hearted who step away from a tackle like he did for their first on Thursday. Up to him, nobody else, to prove he has the mental attitude and ability to make a difference. Looks scared of his own shadow at the moment, maybe a loan away helps. Genuinely don't know.
