Shouldn't be near the first team for at least another 4 weeks, clearly not ready and unless we build him up the expectation of the fans will really damage him.
I'll give him time to find his feet, but early conclusions have to be that the virtues he's been bestowed with are actual weaknesses in this league: he gets shut as soon as he gets it - might be what they want at Ajax but if you want to make a mark in this league you have to show more than that and maybe he just doesn't have the skillset?

Looking at this moment like another £25M has been flushed down the toilet to go with the Bolassie cash.

Got to wait for him to play a League game first before making a judgement

Oh aye. I wouldn't write him off. He's not a poor player, dont get me wrong. Good technique as you;d expect. But he looks a dull 'pass the buck' type who we really should be getting for no more than £10M on the evidence so far.

I'll give the lad time to settle in but the early indications aren't good. The games just seem to pass him by and given the opposition he's been up against (Sevilla aside), it's a worry.

I wouldn't be starting him next week. Hopefully coming off the bench to affect the first few games will get him up to speed.

No reason to write him off yet, but simultaneously there's every reason to keep the healthy scepticism that he will be subject to what a lot of big money players from that awful league experience when they play here. It doesn't prepare them for the change in pace and physicality.

You can't really judge Klaassen for a good 12 months though. He could end up being a decent player. However, if he isn't showing flashes of encouragement in around 3-6 months, you can pretty much say he won't be anything more than decent.
