That one. I see him play and hardly see evidence he can skip away from a challenge and buy time. He gets shut far too quickly for me. Maybe he's taught that at Ajax, but when his manager compares him to Xavi he better have some of the masters attributes to back it up.

....I agree that Klaassen isn't the greatest mover or particularly athletic but he does move the ball very quickly. I noticed that trait at Ajax. He has the awareness of players around him and often passes with his first touch.

It's hardly commanding though is it?

Its good to move the ball around, but you expect a man brought in (a captain of his previous club) and into a position here where they need to conduct operations to be taking more responsibility and make things happen.

...let's give the lad a bit of time.
Oh yeah, I stated earlier that it's dangerous to write this feller off and that he had an ok game last night. But the fanfare before the game means he would inevitably be under the microscope. And rightly so too: we have a right to expect that a top player has been bought to replace Barkley.

I wouldn't agree that Klaaseen is Barkley's direct replacement. While he can play in the same position I'd expect another play will fulfil that label.

..I suspect Klaassen would've been bought regardless of Barkley.

Pace in todays game: you dont have it then you cant do a thing worth doing.

How does that negate my belief that pace is required to be a top player? You're just highlighting that less than top players have pace. If you have talent without pace in that part of the pitch you are diminished as a threat.

Giroud is a player you want Dave and is bottom 5 pace in the prem. Fabregas is bottom 10 and has just won the league. Cazorla is a player you rate is bottom 20. So is Gundogan at City.

Brains > legs.

'sall I'm saying.
