I remember this. He signed for Villa from West Ham. After he signed he heard that Everton had also been in for him. He asked Villa if he could go to Everton after only being there for a few weeks. Villa (to their credit) tore up his contract and let him go to Everton. Everton reimbursed Villa for the monies paid to West Ham. Crazy.

If I remember rightly he was named in the squad but I think it was only 1 sub at that time so he was there in case anything happened to Mimms

I thought of him as soon as I saw the first post. Signed for Arsenal from QPR. Didn't play a single game - there for days only, possibly during the close season - then moved to Palace in a swap deal for Kenny Sansom.
