..report that Unsworth is keen on the managers job at Barnsley.
I read a piece by Ratcliffe in today's Echo where he questions the wisdom of him taking that job and says that Unsworth should take a job at the highest level he can to start off. Funny that, he seemed to be undermining Unsworth at every turn when he was in control of our first team and 'auditioning' for the post.

Typical of him.

I think he questioned whether Oxford would have been right. A Championship team is the highest opening offer he's going to get.

..Unsworth might be waiting forever for a top job, though. I imagine he has a good knowledge of clubs further down the chain and fancies one that is well run with a decent owner. It wouldn’t surprise me if Unsworth is being frozen out at USM FF, especially since Royle left. For some reason, i don’t see him involved with the inner-circle of Allardyce, Lee, Shakespeare and Walsh.

Jesus, it pains me to read this.

I think he's done here. Let down badly by his employers.

I think it is probably more to do with Unsworth wanting to go into management than being frozen out.
Unsworth is not involved with the first team and has just produced a host of players who could play in the first team in the next couple of years , I don't think he is a threat and Sam would know that if it were seen that he forced out a fans favourite it would make his own position more difficult.

It would be a bizarre situation if Unsworth, as Blue as they come and already a winner with the U23s, is being frozen out by Allardyce and co given a more than reasonable possibility that at least one or more of them stand to be culled in the summer if things don't improve rather dramatically between now and the end of the season.

I think he was let down badly more by the players than employers.
Koeman left, Unsworth got the job and results disimproved . Look back at the posts on here they were almost universally wanting a new manager.

He may in time be up to managing a premiership club, but not at the moment and certainly not a club in crises.
