yea, it just seems likely tho...pure guesswork, Matey. The reality is that I don’t know.

"My advice is to try and manage at the highest level possible".
?
He was left in limbo by his employers: "take this lot and see what you can do" - handing him no authority whatsoever to deal with players (with questionable attitude) who knew he'd be short term.I think he was let down badly more by the players than employers.
Koeman left, Unsworth got the job and results disimproved . Look back at the posts on here they were almost universally wanting a new manager.
He may in time be up to managing a premiership club, but not at the moment and certainly not a club in crises.
That's the key line.Yes...
"David Unsworth raised eyebrows by turning down the chance to take over at Oxford United. Maybe it just wasn't the right job at the right time for him. My advice would be to try and manage at the highest level possible. If you don't make a success of it, you'll always be able to drop down a level or two and have another chance."
Referring to the Oxford job nothing to do with Barnsley.
be the best you can be..... but don't aim too high. That's the key line.
That for Unsworth was here at Everton, as he was given that job to do.

Yes, he did. And without the benefit of being declared full time manager and the authority that gives.
The cups were Chelsea away in the LC and dead games in the EL.2 wins in 8, and contributing to us going out of 2 Cup Competitions, whilst getting humiliated in the Europa League?

Thank God we've moved away from those days. Now we've got 1 win in 8 and crashed out of the other cup...2 wins in 8, and contributing to us going out of 2 Cup Competitions, whilst getting humiliated in the Europa League?
Yea I can't see that either if I'm honest. I think he knows now is the right time to move for his career.I think it is probably more to do with Unsworth wanting to go into management than being frozen out.
Unsworth is not involved with the first team and has just produced a host of players who could play in the first team in the next couple of years , I don't think he is a threat and Sam would know that if it were seen that he forced out a fans favourite it would make his own position more difficult.

Three of Unsworth's games were in competitions which at the time were effectively a distraction - we were all but out of Europe by the Lyon game, and the Atalanta game was a dead rubber in which we played a reserve side. If the figures you're using are unfair to anyone, it's Unsworth.I don't think it's a like for like comparison when in Unsworth's 8 games he faced a top 6 Premier League side once (Chelsea in the Cup), whereas in our last 8 we have faced a top 6 PL side 4 times out of 8.
