Long, long long way to go...reality sets in Sunday, when things are going to have to be snappier overall. Bit disappointed to learn that the inclusion of Beningime was apparently more down to necessity than conviction but I'll take whatever form of divine inspiration we can get right now and fair play to him for turning out a solid debut.
It wasn't great and it wasn't horrible but points matter and no style of play or formation was ever successful if it didn't get wins.

Makes sense to give him 6-8 weeks at least, and I hope he can take over for longer.
There are issues endemic within this squad that nobody will be fixing overnight.
We absolutely need money available in January for at least 3 signings but until then we are going to have to rely on the basics of organisation and commitment and not least, the quality that we already have being motivated and ready to put up a fight with the rest of them.
Unsworth seems better placed to at least attempt that than anyone else. Personal relationships will count for a lot in the next few weeks and I'm wary of someone entirely new having to start from scratch on that level in our state.
It may be needed down the line, but he at least deserves a go.

Unless results get even worse I think Usworth will be given a number of weeks to prove his worth...right up to January even.

1st half we were piss poor, scared, set up wrong but I sort of understood what he was trying to do. He didn't want to go gung no only for us to be 2/3 down with confidence shattered. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I bet he wishes he had got them having a go at Chelsea 1st half like we did 2nd half, I think we would have won if we hadn't let them settle.
Still, lots of positives, some nice passing moments with a bit of movement, created some very presentable chances, great to see Mirallas and Lennon, McCarthys hamstrings didn't go twang and hopefully that goal for Calvert Lewin will do his confidence no harm.
Lots of players to bring in still and be given a chance, will be interesting to seen what team he selects on Sunday.

'4-5-1' - it wasn't. It was clearly, just like Koeman and Martinez, 4-3-3. Let's not dress it up like Unsworth was implementing some great new plan. If Schneids hadn't fallen ill, we'd have had two sitting midfielders again, just not Gueye.
'only a striker away' - we had three of them on the pitch at various points, rooney, then DCL and Niasse. They key issue is that it's not a functioning unit.
Amazes me that people can't see we are getting the pat-head,on the heart strings stuff here that is absolutely classic Kenwright's Everton. People are letting sentiment cloud their judgement.
And wtf is that praise of McCarthy. Christ.
Just appoint the man, don't mount this weird emotional campaign.

The good thing with Unsworth is he sees things just like we do and understands what we have lacked. I would choose him hands down over anyone if he can get us playing good football that brought results. He'll be the first manager we have had since Kendall who probably genuinely cared about the club and I want him to be more successful than anyone. He wants to manage Everton, that is his dream. Not like Roberto or Ronald who wanted to use it as a stepping stone.
At least with Rhino he wouldn't ditch us for the United job. He wants this job and that is it. I pray he brings us success.

When you have people not wanting Unsworth to succeed there really is no hope.
Yep sometimes it looked like 4-5-1 but only in the sense that Rooney was 600 miles away from the nearest man but it deffo looked lopsided as Mirallas was not holding any width whatsoever 1st half. Lennon tried to but Kenny was too deep to help make any inroads first half.
