David Unsworth appreciation thread

We were abysmal when Martinez left. He had 2 days training with then and they looked like a different side. Players often find extra motivation when someone new takes charge and i’m confident that he’ll at least put a balanced and positive team out.

We shall see, but I’m a lot more confident about the Chelsea game than I was this morning.
I agree with that mate but at minute we've got no regular back 4 that plays together, no Lukaku, no regular formation and an almost new team of players. It's a right mess, he's got three away games on bounce with little time to prepare. He needs a bit of time to organise us.

Zidane talking over a team of world beaters is totally irrelevant to Unsworth taking over Everton, was my point.
I disagree. It’s the quality of players that’s irrelevant. Real Madrid are a team of far greater stature than us and they gave an ex-player with reserve team management experience a chance.
Surely it’s more risky for them as one of the top sides in the world to hire from within than us?

FYI people, Everton have no "stature" in the game anymore otherwise we wouldn't be appointing the Wigan and Southampton managers. TBH Unsworth is perfect for us we're not a top 6 team and top managers aren't in to long term projects, other managers talked about are more risky than Unsworth as they've done just as much nothing in the game as Unsworth but don't know the club anything like he does.

It won’t be easy, but i’m feeling optimistic.

I think Brennan's point is with a side like Real's, even a bad manager would probably have them at least 2nd in the league come the end of the season. Whereas the situation would likely be considerably more dire at Everton.

No, because if Real Madrid appointed the ghost of Jimmy Saville they'd still finish in the top four in that league.

We are in the relegation zone and dropping from the top flight would potentially kill us.

We are not in the position to be making appointments based on such huge risks.

Look at Craig Shakespeare. Comes in and wins six games on the bounce. And now ?

45% of people on here wanted Vitor Pereira in after Moyes left.

He's now managing in the German fourth division.

I'm not one for majority rule to be honest.
Understand your point.........Just hard to see who can drag us up at this moment in time and Rhino seems to be the leader of the pack

But the expectations there are massive! And the manager is the most important role at a club. Expectations for our season have plummeted.

Six wins on the trot would really work for me right now !;)

Yep, just think it's too dire atm, it would be unfair to Rhino if nothing else. That said, I do think him to hopefully steady things over the next few weeks is the right call. Get the players back to basics, playing in a system were they're used correctly and perhaps more opportunities for the likes of Davies, Kenny and Lookman. All the while, the board take their time to get the right man in.

There are still 90 points to play for. We are not fighting relegation even if sky news would like everyone to think so.........

So only the biggest clubs in the world should hire inexperienced managers then?
