2025/26 David Moyes

Maybe the manager should start playing more of the players we bought to improve the squad rather than ones that had us in multiple relegation battles.

It’s great for the long term future of Everton that we’re getting a bit more out of McNeil, Gueye, Tarkwoski Keane Beto and Mykolenko

Just don’t mention the 100 mill plus on players who now can’t get in ahead of that lot.

Did they? I thought they got 48 points in the previous two seasons?

I agree mate, worrying isn’t it. I think we should sack our recruitment team.

Did they? I thought they got 48 points in the previous two seasons?

Yeah they did. I was paraphrasing the relegation battle line that’s thrown out on here all the time

The point still stands. I know that McNeil Gueye Keane Tarkowski Beto Mykolenko et al aren’t good enough. I expected us to start replacing these players and phasing them out.

Instead we’re now lauding how a manager has used the players of previous managers to get a bit of a better points totals whilst disregarding 100 mill pounds worth of his own signings?

Either the new players aren’t better than the old ones in which case WTF was the manager/recruitment team doing bringing them in

Or they are better/could be better, and the manager is choosing to play the other players instead.

Either way questions need to be asked. If fans want to exist in some fantasy world where they just pretend that Moyes had nothing to do with recruitment and be made up that we’ve got a few more points than some of our worst ever PL sides then that’s great.

Personally I’d have liked to have seen us move on to become a more mobile front foot attacking side utilising the pace and dynamism of Rohl Dibling George Alcaraz alongside KDH Garner Ndiaye etc. rather than continuing to watch Gueye McNeil et al shuffling around making the same errors they’ve made for numerous years.

LOL what? None of those players apart from George have any pace and/or dynamism, and he doesn’t have much else by the looks of it.

Whatever’s going on with the recruitment needs sorting because last summer was an unmitigated disaster. If Moyes was running recruitment operations last year then we should question the fact he scouted, recommended and then signed players like Aznou, Rohl, Barry and Dibling because none of them have improved us one single bit. We should also sack the recruitment team and not bother with one, because clearly we’re paying them a wage to do nothing while Moyes does whatever he wants.

If the recruitment team are responsible for scouting those players and then suggesting them to the manager, well…

Moyes signs off on the players, that much was clear. Him and Kinnear are the top of the tree for recruitment.

Pace is relative. They may not be quick, but they are quicker than McNeil and Gueye.

We’re going absolutely nowhere with the slowest back 4 in the league and a midfield of Garner Gueye KDH with McNeil and Ndiaye on the wings. Nowhere. There’s not a single ounce of pace anywhere in that team apart from Beto. At least swapping McNeil and Gueye out for George/Dibling and Rohl/Iroegbunam/Alcaraz would give us some extra pace.

Branthwaite and OBrien need to be at centre back soon if we want to move forward at all but again the recruitment geniuses decided that Kenny Tete on a free was the only right back in world football who could improve us and didn’t make a move for a CB even after Branthwaite had got injured in pre season.

Yeah it wasn't a question of not knowing, it was more of a point to Dave.
Moyes done it more in that stint than every other manager as a collective since the Premier league started..

In fairness some of the qualification rules have changed a lot over that time but I also see your point.

If we get into Europe this season it’s an achievement no doubt about it. I also simultaneously think we’ve left a lot of opportunities on the table this season. I also don’t see the basis for a team next season that’s any different to the one we’ve had last few seasons.

We’ll roll out a very similar back 4 because I don’t think we’ll disrupt either of the fullbacks.

2/3 of the midfield are unstoppable in Garner and KDH and Moyes seems obsessed with playing Gueye who will still be here.

Grealish and Ndiaye will be wide.

Unless the Friedkins pony up for a brilliant striker we’re probably looking again at Beto and Barry.

So Moyes and Kinnear signed off on the players, does that mean somebody else scouted and recommended them? Well I’d like to know who this was and maybe the club can sit them down and have a conversation.

The signing of Rohl was madness at the time with his injury record.

Moyes saying how he looks good in training.

Dreadful on the pitch.

Did you never watch any of George, Alcaraz or Dibling at their former premier league clubs?

George definitely has pace and the other two were indeed dynamic players.

Moyes simply cant sign strikers. In his career hes got lucky with Yakubu and perhaps Johnson as well.

Both were signed for big fees at the time. An injury prone Saha and an overweight Beattie were more his level across the board.

Big concern there and you'd be more inclined to have him rebuild the defence than go big on a centre forward.

Still need one more point to equal the points earnt in each of the last two seasons.

Its a fair record but it confirms my feelings all those years ago that he stayed on too long and we needed change.

Its nice to be talking Europe with 10 of our starting 11 at the weekend a part of Dyches team that Dave was happy with finishing 17th.

It was Lampard who had us in freefall in 22/23 when we finished 17th. Think Dyche did well to save us that season especially given the circus of the Board & ownership.

If that happens, I wont be a happy man and I doubt many others would be..

I look at both sides of every point on the stick or twist, but when silly nonsense keeps getting used as an argument than I will clean it up.
Using European qualification was a very silly angle to fight your case.
