2025/26 David Moyes

Fair enough!! My point is the same but with a clear quantifiable decision-making process and not because of "feels" and "guts". Becase, it's not "beautiful football". My sense of beautiful is looking at the Points table. At least for the next couple of years. Then, we can talk of aesthetics.

Oh i dont care if its pretty or not. Others do im sure but not me.

I care if i see points & a team and squad being built for the future so he doesnt leave us like Sunderland or West Ham.

In my opinion the perfect manager for where we're at this moment in time. It's not like when he first took over that shambolic squad in 2002. He is more than a few steps ahead of that and he is doing a very good job. Is he dour at a press conference? Yes, but who cares? What is he saying and doing with the players behind closed doors! There are very few that complain about him

He said previously to the season, he wants to fight for Europe and not to avoid relegation, which is pretty alright for a team that was nowhere near there in recent years.

I guess these days managers need to be very careful what they with all the media etc, because it's coming back if they don't deliver. Better than Big Sam or Nathan Jones saying they are as good as Pep.

You’d have to be thick as muck to want Moyes gone after the last few years some fans are never happy and need something to moan about seriously!

The worst thing is I’m not surprised at all!

Look at what’s happened to Weatham since he left …

They hated him and ran him out of the club and now are about to be relagated unless our ex manager manages to bail them out and take Forrest down instead

Ideally we continue to develop under Moyes and consolidate that development into next year, and when it’s time for him to step down, appoint a manager following a similar pattern to what happened when Moyes originally left with 1st season Martinez who came in, enjoyed the benefit of defensive stability but added further attacking width and flair - although this time ensure that it is sustainable….just not a one season wonder.

I seem to remember all his teams being difficult to breakdown and spearheaded by no-nonsense Center Backs (Maybe not glamourous or technically brilliant, but resolute, determined, stubborn). Yobo, Jags, Lescott, Distin, Before he was broken by bobby - I remember the game against Chelse we lost 6-3, IIRC Distin actually walked upto fans and apologized. I knew then he was finished, lost completly to bobby nonsense. I might be remembering wrong, but that's what has stuck in my mind. <Edit> Forgot mad-dog Heitinga as well.

And I also remember that Moyes has had trouble, historically with striker position (Yeah, I am holding up my hand and accepting that's one blind spot Moyes has).

Based on that I think Tarkowski is natural CB for Moyes doctrine, and that's what explains Keane's resurrection. I am enthused by O'Brian as well, I have not had a chance to watch Branthwaite yet (Remember I am in India don't get live games always :P). Does he fit that mould?

He has a nice left foot, is confident in the air, is prepared to have a go at goal, and is very quick for such a tall player. He's a bit of a unicorn. I think O'Brien is stockier and stronger, and that they'll compliment one another if they get chance to boss our defence long term. There will be envious eyes throughout the league if we can cement the two J's with anything like prime Baines and Coleman to fill out the back line.

Someone would need to be "thick as muck" to be so closed minded to not keep their options open in case a better manager became available or Moyes did not perform in the second half of the season.

Dont you think?
Not the same thing tho really is it once again as soon as we’re halfway up the table folk start demanding Europe and sexy football people have too much time on their hands and want to be clever experts.

Tail wagging the dog these days!!1!
