2025/26 David Moyes

He had been talking us up at the start of the season but has started to revert to type.

I hope we’re in a position in regards to investment where he can’t have any complaints. He’s mentioned about other clubs spend a lot in recent weeks.

On another note I’m hating the secrecy over injuries. Why won’t he tell us how long players are out for? Seems a bizarre new trend where no one updates on length of time out
I expect that should recoveries not work out as planned it's easier for fans to shoot the messenger than accept medicine isn't exact.
And with the clubs quite atrocious history of fanbase fallouts I reckons not provoking further issues is for the best.
Also, when McNeil was going through what he was with his partner, I'm glad the club only announced that they were supporting both through a difficult time, it was the right minded high road choice, no need washing others laundry in public for them.
Just 'cos it's occurred to me as I was about to post, there's a chance some injuries take time to accurately diagnose, a hamstring pull might be a tear or a herniation. Sometimes repeat scans and calculated inflammation needs factoring in so early diagnosis isn't always best. The full picture vs the quickest.

what was that with mcneil?

He has gotta fix the chance creation problem. McNeil showed a bit of what we are lacking so we need to find that creativity whether it be from him, Charly, Harry or Dib. A RB switch is most certainly in order as O'Brien is not the guy in that position. We have to quit slowing things down on the 18 and allowing defenses to set and when they do we have to be able to play a final ball. Get it sorted. That will be his job to figure out going forward.

This time last year you thought “3 losses in 14” and 16th in the table was acceptable. They’re your standards, don’t be talking to anyone else about dumbing down expectations.

Any rational , non lunatic would realise that is game , set and match for the opposition … I have a feeling mr” 5th is better than 4th” will have other ideas though

I get what you are saying and yes I agree, reluctantly that what you are saying would probably be a realistic ending.... :(

Well possibly as an ambassador of the club maybe? I don't know... would be churlish to throw away that amount of experience of Everton. (I know the fruit is going to be on my back for wanting to keep Moyes beyond necessity, but I like fruit salad :p).
He’ll take the Celtic or Scotland job when he leaves here, absolutely nailed on. Most likely Celtic to win a few trophies, and who can blame him.
I didn’t want him back and ultimately I don’t want him at he helm beyond either the end of the season or at worst the end of his contract. Doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s done a good job, I’d just like to see us have a spell where we have a more modern manager in unison with the very good owners we currently have and where we have an attitude of ‘sod the Sly 6, we’re coming after you’.

Seriously, what were people’s expectations this season. For too many seasons we have escaped relegation by a sniff, we had become a joke.

Football is way better than we have seen for years.
No-one is sweating relegation.
We have won some away games.
We are still getting some bum decisions, costing us points.
Squad is paper thin, yet we are getting good results.

This is probably more than enough to call this a good season, based on previous.

Is it good enough long term? Of course not, we all want better!
Is this a reason to lambast Moyes on a constant basis? Not in my eyes.

It appears that some people have an agenda, come what may.

He played one good pass for the goal, after that ever forward pass he tried he gave away

I am sure this has been stated before, but only twice have we managed 28+ points by half way through the seasons since Moyes' 1st spell.

Of course these are the 1st Martinez season and the Ancelotti season.

After the last few seasons let's enjoy this one as there should be no pressure going into this 2nd half of the season now!

With a couple of astute deals in January, then we could be pushing for European places!

If no changes and just getting our players back fit again and back from AFCON then we are still on for a very good season after what we have had to endure in recent years!

I would love for us to get Europe as it would massively help us strengthen in the summer but also keep onto players such as Illy. But regardless, it is all a massive step in the right direction!
