Doubt he'll mentor a new manager as that doesn't happen in football since managers want to do things their own way without outside influence. Only time I can remember a manager mentor set up was at Coventry when Big Ron was mentoring Gordon Strachan and it ended up getting very messy at the endMy understanding based on Moyes' own admission. He will see out the contract and then he will probably move into a consultant / DoF mode (I know he hates that role, but still...) If you have seen old Moyes' video from Euro (where he was a technical consultant / commentator or some such.), He has an astute brain on strategy, which he doesn't get to use with hands tied.
So My call is: See out the contract and then Friedkins move him upstairs to mentor the new incoming manager. That's what my take is... Could be completely wrong, but... Thats how I see it.
He has and Keane has done well. However it means we play deeper to make up for the lack of pace. And for a CB, Branthwaite is very good on the ball which impacts how we play as well.
That may factor in to why we haven’t played as aggressively as Moyes had us last season, because we are starting from a deeper position.
I think our forwards press well in terms of we win turnovers high up the pitch. But when we lose that press, we can be exposed or overrun in midfield (see the Newcastle game).interesting point, do you mean we’re not pressing as high up the pitch
i think weve looked to control games and have more possession more this season in which grealish and kdh have helped massively
what do you reckon we’d be doing differently with branthwaite in the side
I get what you are saying and yes I agree, reluctantly that what you are saying would probably be a realistic ending....Doubt he'll mentor a new manager as that doesn't happen in football since managers want to do things their own way without outside influence. ).If he had a role with us after leaving as manager it would probably be something to do with advising the owners on football matters with regards scouting and how to maximise that area of recruitment etc. But I have a feeling he'll probably look to either retire like Ferguson or maybe give international management a crackI get what you are saying and yes I agree, reluctantly that what you are saying would probably be a realistic ending....
Well possibly as an ambassador of the club maybe? I don't know... would be churlish to throw away that amount of experience of Everton. (I know the fruit is going to be on my back for wanting to keep Moyes beyond necessity, but I like fruit salad).
If haalands got his shooting boots on here, we might just swap places with sunderland indeed.Looking at league table as it stands...
Swap places woth Sunderland and we're back where he left us as best of the rest....
Massive step forward from the last few years of relegation battles
Would the Celtic job tempt him? He has a preference (Soft spot) for them, if I remember correctly (Think I read that somewhere). Now that Celtic needs rescue, Moyes might be the right fit in 18 months of time, I think. If he had a role with us after leaving as manager it would probably be something to do with advising the owners on football matters with regards scouting and how to maximise that area of recruitment etc. But I have a feeling he'll probably look to either retire like Ferguson or maybe give international management a crack
I could see that yes as its probably a club he holds a desire to manage. He was a youth player at Celtic if my memory serves me right so he definitely has a soft spot for themWould the Celtic job tempt him? A club friendly journo, in my view, to client journo standard recently said;
Everton’s modest five-year aim is to be an established top 10 club – although owners the Friedkin Group remain more ambitious than that.
I think our forwards press well in terms of we win turnovers high up the pitch. But when we lose that press, we can be exposed or overrun in midfield (see the Newcastle game).
In my view, part of that is because our defence sits 5 yards deeper. Because of Branthwaites speed in recovery, last season they sat a bit higher and we looked more offensive and on the front foot, which I don’t feel we have done as much this season.
Branthwaite is also much better and willing to carry the ball 5-10 yards and progress it himself. Meaning midfield doesn’t drop as deep to pick the ball up. Which also means, that those players are less likely to make suicide passes etc because they aren’t making them as close to our goal. (As we seem to have seen quite a few this season from Charly and Tim etc).
I may be wrong but that’s my thoughts.
Think it means to be a stable and consistent club with regular lower tier European qualification with the aim of using that as a base to challenge for 'champions' league qualification and winning trophiesThat statement makes absolutely no sense..
