2025/26 David Moyes

Come on guys, we finished last season strong under Moyes. Over the summer, we lost around 10 players and bought so many new players in, some have worked and some will take time to work. Moyes has had one real transfer window, we know what positions we need to get players in next window, it’s going to take time ! We aren’t going to get instant success !

But he didn’t have to choose those particular words that reinforce an image that many Evertonians had from his last spell as manager!

He is old enough to know better, it gains him absolutely nothing and costs him goodwill.
Not good words !!

As for his image to certain fans, i very much doubt anything he says would ever play a part in changing their feelings..

The time we went from averaging 36k, which was most of my life, to regularly selling out games was a big turning point. A lot of people jumped on the bandwagon of football popularity who I think were quite casual Everton supporters that don't really understand what the club once was. Worse than all that it's probably the opinion of any fan from other clubs under 40 about Everton that hurts the most.

It’s cringe when they give new signings the “big club” script. I get it to a certain extent but then you look at the overall picture and it didn’t add up. The narratives, the lack of scrutiny, the deliberate disregard for disappointment and failure.

It’s also why I rarely have a dig at them lot, I don’t care for them and always felt we should get our own act together before giving it out.

I'm not convinced our owners are that bothered in truth. I get the feeling we're not their primary focus currently as they see us as a club that's been in disarray for so long we just need this steady steering of the ship.
We'll surely be their primary focus as we're the asset in the most popular, most wealthiest, most watched and most in-demand league in the world and Roma are just a team in some foreign league that just doesn't have the same global appeal and growth potential as their Premier League asset.

You are right about steadying the ship though. A lot of people like to suggest TFG have some ultimate level of ambition when reality is it's possible they might be quite content with mid table stability in the short term, so in that sense they may not care too much what the manager says or where the points come from so long as it gets the job done.

A spoon to a gunfight.

Even though they hadn’t won away all season and played an away game in Europe on Tuesday night.

Could have let us know how much better Newcastle are than us at the presser last week, then 50.000 Evertonians could have stayed at home.

Did he say if Bournemouth are better than us? That’s a long trip for away fans if the manager thinks we’ve only got a chance if they play poorly.

...we're 14th.

Tonight’s comments and the one’s just after the league cup really, really annoyed me. They didn’t need to be said, he doesn’t need to give fuel to fans fire or juicy quotes for the media - just be the grey man in your interviews, how hard can it be after all these years!

Almost at self sabotage levels of stupidity.
I couldn’t be more with you - I just want some standards to be set. As I said in the match thread, if we lost 1-0 or even 2-0 and really gave it a go I could cope, but I despise this small time nonsense.

Just stinks of Dyche and I hated it when he did it. I don’t want to look like a meme, but a club like Everton should expect a hell of a lot more

I’d be incredibly disappointed if he’s still Everton manager going into next season.
Never fails does he with his probablys maybes and not quiets ,
Why does he do this sort of quote??? What the hell does it gain him?

Fair enough, say they were the better side on the night, criticize our performance and praise theirs. But to do that, it just chucks goodwill that he gained on Monday right away.

Infuriating.
can’t help himself mate

They're happy Roma are top of Serie A. We've been an afterthought up to now.

People talk of their ambition, but where is it? No evidence.
I agree Drico. I just get the feeling we aren't glamorous enough for them and they have left us in the hands of their subordinates without being too interested how we're getting on as long as we're safe and keep bringing in the Premier League millions they'll be content. I sincerely hope I'm wrong but it's just the vibe they're giving off
