2025/26 David Moyes

I'm not going to join the anti Moyes brigade of whom there are enough on here. However I wish his persona was more like Frank's of Tottenham for example who is always agitated and involved with what's going on the pitch. Moyes seemd inactive most of the time.
To be fair , he is 60 odd with a bit of a belly...can't see him doing a cartwheel every time we win a tackle , i get your point though .

i think he's done brilliantly since he came in, barely put a foot wrong till this season

pressure a lot higher now, and has better players to utilise, and he's not getting the very best out of them

i think villa and spurs were two games we were unfortunate in, and the second half against Liverpool was the best we've played at anfield with fans since 1999. the flip side being he bottled it with the approach in the first half

i think he just needs to start being less stubborn and start trusting his squad more, and subs need to be used more. it is very much a squad game now. the league is ridiculously athletics with more distance and sprinting and chasing required than ever. if we make 2-3 subs per game and everyone else makes 5 that fatigue will accumulate very quickly in comparison to the rest of the league

added in to my belief that the likes of Gana and KDH are good layers, but not good enough to play 90 every week which Moyes seems to be set on
A leopard doesn't change his spots, particularly not an old one whose personal expectations have been more than exceeded by his career achievements doing just what he does.

We know what we're going to get from Moyes: competence riddled by hubris and an inferiority complex.

I'm not an admirer, but I don't think he is the problem. Everton is. Until this club sets up managers to truly compete, then the Moyes horizon of upper-mid-table will always be the limit. In that context, is it any wonder Moyes is a popular choice for many Evertonians.

When our self-imposed limits change, so will our choice of manager. Whether that choice is made well is another question, of course.

For now, I'm hoping the Moyesiah puts together trademarked wins in trying circumstances against Sunderland and Fulham, because he's going to need to if he wants to avoid a spotlight of his - and the club's - own making. "Stability" demands points on the board, not a bottom six placing after 10 matches.

We are just so slow and predictable

But it’s not all on Moyes and the coaching staff, surely the players are allowed to express themselves whilst they’re on the pitch?

I dunno, there was a lot of talk of ambition but the spending in the summer was modest tbh. We don’t know the figure for the sale of Goodison/women’s team, but I’ll judge ambition on actions rather than words, and so far it’s been fairly mediocre.
It might not seem like a significant amount spent compared to other clubs but this transfer window we've reached out highest net spend as a club, so the Friedkins have invested , you might not be content with signings but we've made numerous signings ,it might of been dampened by the fact we had a lot of gaps to fill squad wise, that's not the Friedkins fault.

Unfortunately if we are talking about ambition, then we absolutely have to compare ourselves to other clubs. Spending £25 million on a striker just isn’t ’showing ambition’ anymore.

Didn't realise how much Sunderland hated Moyes. Twittersphere saying he's getting booed when he comes out
They hold him responsible for their death spiral after he took over from Allardyce. He immediately said they were likely in a relegation scrap after his first game of the season and his record as Sunderland manager was appalling, he offered lots of excuses for their capitulation except for self scrutiny.
He’s viewed by the Mackems just like Benitez is here (the sentient Evertonians, not the drivel-spouting loons who occupy this fine forum).

His words in the press conference were that "I've moved on and so have Sunderland too".

Doesn't sound like it.

Rightly they'll boo him. He was a terrible manager for them.

Bunch of know nothing inbreds. Do they not realise Moyes is peak football management material and it doesn’t get much better?
They should be bowing down to him in eternal gratitude and begging for his return.
‘No one could have done a better job’™️

He is a popular choice because we have had many years of being a basket case with repeated sackings.

I’ve seen very very few suggest he should get longer than his contract which was effectively long enough to steady us so that we can push beyond that limit you suggest.

The club wasn’t going to sack Dyche and miraculously have us set up to compete at the top level straight away.
