2025/26 David Moyes

You do know it's fair to have respect for Moyes and what he's done (in spells) and is doing now (in terms of stability) and still be critical of the way he sets up and approaches games against so-called superior teams?

Moyes would certainly not be my choice for the next phase of our transition but I totally get why we have him now (and equally why he has us) and it's the right appointment, however his abysmal record against decent teams especially away from home is absolutely right to be pointed out and challenged. It's not good enough for Everton to be so submissive and have such an inferiority complex when we're playing the likes of Chelsea, United, City, Arsenal, The [Poor language removed] etc....it's the biggest issue this Club needs to remedy quickly if it want's to return to it's former standing.

The internet has done weird things to people and pushes everything to the poles. This results in people seeing any praise or criticism, in this case for/of Moyes, as total endorsement or total denigration and respond in an extreme fashion. I suggested that Moyes wasn't the best man to take this club forward the other day, I wasn't calling for his dismissal or anything reactive, and then had a particular poster go off his nut at me for three days because apparently I had said that we have to beat both Liverpool and Man City away, I said no such thing, and another poster bizarrely saying that I said Barry should have 10 goals by now when I hadn't mentioned Barry a single time. The internet, and by extension this forum, has little tolerance for shades of grey.

Who was the poster regarding Moyes?

Somewhat related to David Moyes…I’m watching the Forest-Bournemouth match. Can’t believe how poorly Forest is this year. Seeing Dyche on the touch line is crazy. Bournemouth just scored off a corner. I expect after the match Dyche will say he’s taken Forest as far as he can.

I do wonder where we'll go after Moyes.

We don't want someone completely different as then we might have loads of players any new manager doesn't want or trust.

I like the emphasis on buying young players, as they can adapt but I do wonder who will be next ?

Will probably find out soon enough when Moyes leaves to take the Celtic Job.

There’s not a ton to base it on at the PL level, but someone like Baines. Still young enough to relate to the players. Experience with the U18s. Club legend. Gaining great experience with Moyes. Unlike Moyes, I feel Baines has more ambition and creativity. I think he would be more willing to bench players or shake up the line-ups when needed.

What got my interest originally was this post

And a pro-Moyes faction who praise him for the wins and absolve him of any responsibility for any defeats.

It's just blatantly nonsense and came from you being upset that other people weren't joining you in throwing toys out of the pram after a City loss.

He did get plenty of blame for the Leeds and Wolves losses but it doesn't suit the very polarization you are bemoaning in your latest post.
