I think it's ridiculous to have champions league aspirations or expectations with a bottom half budget. It's embarrassing and deluded and potentially extremely destructive because we will get rid of people doing a good job in the mistaken belief that a unicorn exists who will overcome several levels of football economics.

He sets up the team in a way which he thinks gives us the best chance of winning away at a big side. We have rarely had lightening pace on the counter attack which is how nearly all of the lower budget teams get there occasional wins away at the big 4.

And I think that's a fair enough reading of what he does. My own take would be he prioritises not losing by the way he sets up, which greatly minimises the chances of a win. % football basically. And it's fine that it's his way, and it's fine if some fans like it but for me personally it's a chore and I'd like a different attitude, and my viewpoint is made even stronger by the fact that we have already had many many seasons of that approach
