There is absolutely no chance Moyes was insisting we sign Barry - I don’t think he fancies him at all.

Recruitment was a mess, but that is on the Freidkins I’m afraid.

Also at times his hands were forced at Everton, because of financial issues at the club last time he was here , so he had youngsters around the squad. But which homegrown talent did he really improve at Everton last time??? Maybe rodwell, not many more

Vaughan was a talent, but had a lot of injuries. Not sure Moyes devolved him,
And the same with Anichebe who was in and around the squad for years, didn’t score a lot of goals ans
Left for west brom, which is a backward step. Both were good young squad players, none became regular starters

West Ham spent (and wasted) a fortune the summer after Moyes left, if they are ‘feeling the pinch’ it’s because of that.

You mean purely Everton youth, or British? He developed lots of players over the years - Jagielka, Rooney, Lescott, etc.

Sure, he is reluctant to just play youth for the sake of it, but he also tries to help their development by sending them on loan, letting youth players train with the first team and stuff like that.

Like anything else, it’s not a binary thing.

I did not want Moyes since about half through his first stint, I certainly did not want him back this time. His transfer intake this season is so poor, more than 50m spent purely on potential in Barry and Dibbling is a disgrace, neither are yet good enough for the premiere league and who knows if they ever will be, if all that is down to Moyes (which I believe it is} then its my reason for not wanting him. Before I get any stick it is only my opinion which I believe after watching them for more than 70 years I believe I am entitled to.

No stick, but I guess his choice of players is restricted because we buy at the bottom end. Having said that, you have to wonder how the likes of Bournemouth and Brighton and Palace do so much better in the transfer market. That is not down to Moyes so much as our crap staff paid to choose players.

My expectation is a little lower 10-12 but anywhere around 8-10 being good for this year to push into Europe for the next. I think that's a reasonable timeline.

What I'd rather focus on here is what has happened with our summer recruitment.

How have we spent what we've spent on young players that Moyes won't trust instead of improving the starting 11 beyond KDH and a Grealish loan?

Was Moyes consulted and asked if he wanted the likes of Barry, Dibling and Aznou or if he'd have rather had signings that could go into the team from day one?

Having over 2/3rds of our transfer spend being determined to be unprepared to start league match surely can't have been the recruitment plan?

Is this Moyes rejecting players he didn't want? Is it just him refusing to trust the youth? Or did the recruitment team bring in players he can't use?

I’m sure Angus Kinnear said Moyes had final say on all transfers in his recent interview.

Are you seriously trying to say the improvements made to their game at Everton didn’t turn them into England internationals?

Being able to develop talent doesn’t just apply to 18-21-year-old players. In fact, players should always be looking to raise their levels.

Guys like Bowen, Lescott, Antonio, etc played their best football under Moyes and it’s down to how they were coached.

Right now he is not getting the most out of the squad. That's on him and the players. On top of that, he signed these new players. They weren't parachuted in on top of him without his say-so. So, while teething problems are to be expected, he's going to have to own that reality too. My problem with Moyes is that so much of this is about attitude and risk appetite. He continues to play the percentages. That's logical enough - but if you throw out the possibility of "glory" - which is what the cups represent to us - then percentages make for a rather boring and tedious "stability" lacking in fantasy. Stability is great. It doesn't have to be tedious. Right now, we're a very drab ninth. Ninth is right on track, by the way! I'm glad we're ninth. But we've not turned up in the derby, thrown a cup, and underperformed in our last two home league games against sides ripe for the picking. It's joyless stuff. I'm not convinced mid-table obscurity needs to be quite so colourless.

Basically he has say on profile but he cant get what he might want like an experienced CF worth 60 million he gets what the board and player is willing to agree on

So theres always equal culpability. Moyes has veto of this guy or this guy within our psr, squad needs, hammond and kinnear are willing to sanction.

So its never simple.
