2025/26 David Moyes

If you're disappointed with the ability of those players, wait until you hear who put them on the pitch ahead of way more capable players...The manager deserves a P45.

Nah, reactionary, not gonna call for a sacking because the manager gave game time to a few of his new summer signings and two fringe players. We've got a capable enough team and they weren't up for it tonight which is why they got hooked at halftime.

If I was defending him I would say he needed to know if those players were good enough.

He got his answer.

Wolves made loads of changes also, like or not and I know you dont, but PL managers use these games to give the squad players a chance, sometimes somebody grabs that chance and gives the manager options, that wasnt the case tonight.

We have different views on this, I agree with the changes, you dont, Im not saying im right you are wrong, its hard to argue with "Play your best team", so I wont, but I still believe we should make changes.
I cant remember us ever winning one of these cup ties against top flight opposition with a weakened team. We knew exactly how this would play out as soon as the team was announced.

If we are desperate to win then we will never win. These type of games knock the stuffing out of me. Why should I back the manager if he isn't giving us our best chance to win something?

We are never going down this year. Nor are we getting into Europe. So why are we rotating? Why are we resting players, especially our goalkeeper?

It's pretty simple for me. If Moyes isn't prioritising these games then he's not the right manager.

No, that's a false equivalence as you surely know. We know over 38 games we cannot win the league. But in knockout football over six or seven games, our chances rise hugely by comparison. It's why leagues - not cups - are generally used to determine the best team in the land.

I’d submit the evidence that we’ve one 9 league titles and less knockout competitions - we’ve never one the one we’ve just been knocked out of tonight.

So that premise doesn’t bare out or we are an anomaly.

You have to wonder what we doing in training and practice after a showing like tonight. Did they even train that formation or way of playing…..it doesn’t look like it.

I didn’t mind seeing a few changes tbh, I thought we could and should have had more than enough to beat wolves, but the set up and shape was all over the place, and it exposed the players he picked (McNeil and Coleman, and Tim to a degree). Just a mess, but still too many cowards in the squad.

Cowards in the squad means nothing if you have a coward as a manager not doing his job properly.

Can you imagine him and his staff tonight picking that side and being 100% convinced that set up was right? A 36 year old right back with 2 left backs on the bench or Garner who can play there and Gueye or KDH in the middle?

We let a woeful Wolves side dominated the ball for long periods when they were bloody awful
