2025/26 David Moyes

Were 6th in the table since he joined btw.

Which is undoubtedly good form. The key is to do it over a whole season now. I remember multiple seasons in Moyes’s first spell when it was ‘4th best form over a calendar year’ ‘4th over a 38 game spell’ but it was never the 38 game spell that mattered.

Let’s see this top 6 form for the whole season, that’s ultimately all that matters.

Ah so I see now that his bar is Top 6 in the PL this season after years of utter crap relegation battles.

Big couple of home fixtures coming up now, if we can get 6pts from those two, that should give us a good indication that were capable of getting into europe this season

Be good to get another signing in January too, to keep us up there, especially with AFCON

Where have I said this is the bar? I’ve just said that it’s form over a season rather than an arbitrary patch which is important. How can anyone argue with that?

Of course it does, but patches of form are also important, considering it's the start of his second tenure to now.

Just making sure no one has a target of this season as high as 6th.

We're currently sat on 2W, 1D, 2L. We did a lot of good stuff in the Summer, but to me still have no full-backs, no striker and we're missing out best centre half (as well as picking up far too many knocks elsewhere).

If we had a bit more up top you could argue we would be sat here now on 3 wins, 2 draws (Leeds D, Villa W, RS D) and 2nd in the table.

It's steady progress with some highs and some disappointments. Anything Top 10 this year is a great step forwards into another transfer window.

Wish people would stop chatting nonsense. Liverpool went at it full intensity first half to snatch a lead. They couldn’t maintain such a high energy style for the full match.

I don’t think it’s as simple as that if we had gone more aggressive early that we would have gotten a better result. Had we been more open it could have given them more opportunities. Their pressing was excellent in that first half.
The intensity is a massive part, we got caught chasing shadows cos they came out the door while we were still in the room..

Against Pep's city clubs I always felt like the best option is to sit back and counter them (if you have pace). Liverpool since klopp has never been this way. They just cut sides who sit back to shreds.
Its a hard one cos if fans can see it, so should managers..

We looked gobsmacked in the first half, but thats how they are setting up to play now..

It's not so much about sitting off, it's slowing the game down when you can, so you can get your heads back into the game.

The 2nd half was great but its not so much them taking the foot off the gas, but more us waking up to the game. Using grealish more like we did, its not just about his skillset, he's also the best hold up player out there, which in turn slows the game down to a pace you can then work off..

It's just a game we have to learn from, but the 2nd half was very positive on how we reacted to it..

it was a poor decision for TFG to stick with him in the summer.

I doubt we were allowed to get anything from the derby.

But Leeds and Villa are certainly opportunities missed.

Especially that Villa game, it is more on the mentality side. We need urgency. We need more proactive subs. We need better counter attacks & set pieces.

Let's win the next 2 games and build on a momentum. Set the standard high.
