I'm not really sure why you can't follow the maths on this. We can only make 5 subs. We have 7 outfield players on the bench. We are never ever in a million years going to need an eighth choice outfield player who is an unrated U21 player as a sub. Moyes would always flavour playing a senior player out of position. This is just a massive none issue. Have we ever actually even used all 5 subs in any game?

Why don't we do this? Many other clubs do it regularly. Even when we have a fully available squad we don't do it. We rarely make any subs before the sixtieth minute and then it's usually a maximum of 3 like for like subs.

So we agree, that there was a total failure to address glaring deficiencies, which continue to undermine the squad’s potential ?

I’m not saying it was done for a goof, or through hubris. It sure as hell wasn’t done through an abundance of competence and urgency though.

Of course, but that's a slightly different thing. All I mean is there's no point in us getting worked up about us not randomly lashing a kid on the bench who we have no intention of using anyway, it's just not a big deal. What's potentially worthy of discussion is us not having anyone in the youth set up who is seen as a viable candidate to actually get on the pitch, but seeing as we clearly haven't, I have no issue with us not naming them in a squad.

Tete had agreed, Fulham made a much bigger offer to get him to stay as they were struggling for signings themselves. So the FB issues were addressed, but unless Moyes is turning up with Luca Brasi to ensure signatures, there's only so much can be done.

Imagine they'd not landed Barry, imagine the nuclear storm not getting another striker in would have caused. Now it's criticism because the striker brought in hasn't scored. Tete could have signed, could have broke his leg in the first training session.

This 20/20 hindsight stuff is for the birds. 19 players left. We signed 8 back. The squad was older and full of suspect areas, it was a firefighting exercise the summer just. I've been mad with Moyes because of the KDH self inflicted problem. There's plenty to be aggrieved with currently without inventing more to pile on. Moyes didn't sign Myko or Patterson. Moyes chanced J O'B last January and it paid off, but his not being a RB is showing a bit more now.

We play different to how we set up last season. This has meant different areas are more easily attacked. This transition is being capitalised upon by our opponents.

On a serious note Luca Brasi couldn't have helped as he "sleeps with the fishes" in the Mersey courtesy of Don Friedkin..

Cup Finals? I remember the Chelsea one. Which other finals did we get to during his initial 11 years? And semi finals? We won 1 on pens and absolutely “knife to a gunfighted” it against a terrible Liverpool team after being 1-0 up in another. Think we had one more against Chelsea in the League Cup? His cup record is absolutely shocking. We’ve been to one final in the last 30 years and he’s responsible for 1/3 of that whole entire period.

And 100% of the finals we’ve been too and most of the semis.
