Because mediocrity = safety. Most PL clubs would settle for that. We shouldn't.If he’s a mediocre manager explain how he has managed over 700 games in the Premier League?

I enjoyed the win. I just dont accept that the manager is anything like one we should accept as appropriate for our ambitions.Come on Davek just enjoy a thoroughly wonderful victory achieved by a brilliant team and coaching team. Not every day has to be a battle against wrongs
The difference between Davek and me is I’ve disliked every manager since we canned Silva. And also was willing to admit the first Martinez season was a bit of a fluke. You are a failed 'Davek'
The worst cover version.
It's what he done in that situation tho.You merely restated my point: the circumstances were not normal. Circling the wagons and having people do jobs they're not used to is just reacting to a crisis.
It's what happens in normal games that matter. If anyone believes Moyes will retain KDH in a deeper position or Grealish will be asked to sacrifice his normal attacking game then they're in for a disappointment.
Moyes isn't a bad manager, btw. He's a mediocre one. That's what's always been said and so he'll have good days now and again. Last night was one of them but it's not the norm.
Yes I agree that a new manager in the future would be great but for now we're fine and Moyes like him or not clearly has the players on board putting in a shift like that last night so there's no haste to replace himI enjoyed the win. I just dont accept that the manager is anything like one we should accept as appropriate for our ambitions.
The two emotions can be held at the same time.
Given the Premier League is the top league with the top talent your argument holds no water.Because mediocrity = safety. Most PL clubs would settle for that. We shouldn't.
I think he's a manager - at Everton in any case - who will always have us pegged as a club that cant challenge for anything and the target is PL safety. It's what he done in that situation tho.
I wouldn't expect him to change Jack, but I'd hope he's finally bumped into a different approach with KDH. His changes were also spot on.
The same thing happened against Palace, a forced change in tactic and he played it perfectly.
He just needs to see it more when it's not forced.
We will see in the coming months.
And than you can praise him!!
Based off what exactly? So far to me TFG have shown themselves to be more than willing put significant amounts of money into the club. But not enough financial backing. What we’re able to do is closer to those teams you listed that we’re not like than the ones we want to be. And we have to be realistic about that.
Hopefully it doesn’t have to be that way forever. But today it is. That’s why the manager being the right man is so important. It’s not just about results on the field. We also need improvement from our players and have the ability to easily fit them into an established system that makes recruitment more straightforward.
The wages we’re paying are not in the same ballpark as the top sides and that’s the part that matters.Based off what exactly? So far to me TFG have shown themselves to be more than willing put significant amounts of money into the club.
I don't agree at all that we are closer to Brentford and Bournemouth than we are to the big clubs. You may be looking in envy at Iraola and a couple Bournemouth players, but we are absolutely on a different planet to those clubs in terms of the backing we already have, fan base, commercial potential and ability to generate income.
I don't think it's unrealistic at all to suggest that we be able to hold on to our best players, while also bringing new players in to improve the squad around them. For example in summer, we need to make good signings of course. We also need to hold on to Ndiaye. Doing one of these things and not the other would not be good enough imo.
You sound like someone who is vastly underestimating the size and potential of the club.
We are living in the now tho, he gets the season no matter what.I think he's a manager - at Everton in any case - who will always have us pegged as a club that cant challenge for anything and the target is PL safety.
That's a hard attitude to shift and nothing I've seen so far on the pitch or has come from his mouth suggests he's changed his opinion on that.
But I tell you this: the club has undergone a change since he was last here: these fans wont accept just existing as a PL club and putting in good performances periodically. They just wont anymore.
The people on here who state he's doing a good job know in their hearts that Moyes is the past. The only way he can be the present and future is if he ditches his attitude to this club and comes out swinging in games to take as many points as possible on offer.
IMO that's asking a leopard to change its spots with Moyes. He cant make that change.
But we'll see I suppose.
I said earlier in the season if we get top half that's the low hanging fruit that will keep Moyes safe. If he gets it then it's acceptable for now. If not...
Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting us to start spending like Chelsea. The wages we’re paying are not in the same ballpark as the top sides and that’s the part that matters.
There are plenty of players earning large wages who are not very good, our old friend Doucoure for example was one of our highest earners. Paying big wages doesn't mean that the player is automatically good. The wages we’re paying are not in the same ballpark as the top sides and that’s the part that matters.
But I heard from here that Moyes just tells them to play for a safe draw and has never changed as manager, so KDH must be wrong. What does he know, anyway, being in the lockerroom? The language from Dewsbury Hall and Moyes after the game suggest that a change in mindset is occurring, probably driven by the realities of the new owners. KDH said that Moyes had told them pre match they needed to win to be a proper team, and the instructions were to assert themselves on United with the high line. That’s talk we haven’t heard at Everton for 30 odd years.
What did he say about Dixie??
