Do you think it comes across well if you're basically saying you're comfortable with being a squad player. Even if you are, why say it.
I personally don't want comfortable bench players, let alone handing them a new contract.
I have no issue with it at all. I mean it's just the truth isn't it, and we all know it is because we've all said exactly the same thing all season. If
Branthwaite had been fit all season he wouldn't have played much, we all know that and no doubt even if he was a complete and utter idiot and hadn't worked it out for himself it will have been made clear to him in his contract discussions. We're therefore saying what? That we'd rather he lied about what he expected? How weird. Or, again, we're using really laughably terrible logic to say that dropping down a division so you can be the big man and play every week is more ambitious than wanting to train with better players in better facilities, earn more money and play less games but at a higher standard.
It reminds me of when we signed Mark Travers last summer and loads of people started acting as if nobody had ever come across the concept of a back up keeper and something like this had never happened before in the history of football, it's bizarre. There are absolutely loads of players across the league and the world who are clearly content to be squad players, quite why a 33 year old who's already got the best part of 500 games in his legs shouldn't be one of them I really don't know.
