2025/26 David Moyes

Last season we stopped the rot and survived easily.
This season we’ve been talking about Europe most of the year.

Is that not progression…

Yes it is. Thats the point and why I don’t understand why stability is still something to be associated with us.

I don't mean it as a gotcha. I don't believe Glasner would be a particularly good choice - people mention him like he's some kind of trophy whisperer, and of course he did win the FA Cup, but it should be noted that his CV in England does also include one of the biggest upsets in the history of the competition.

It's his League form that would worry me, apart from that run at the end of 23/24 where Palace were winning every game it hasn't been too impressive. I personally think both domestic cups are currently very unlikely routes to Europe; qualifying through the league is the most likely pathway to the Europa/Conference, which in my mind is the way to trophies/regularly challenging in domestic competitions for Everton. Average league form and the manager throwing his toys out the pram won't ever help that.
Losing Guehi, Eze and Olise obviously hasn’t helped their league form. They haven’t reinvested anywhere near enough to properly replace Eze and Olise, never mind Guehi in January.

Last season he achieved a record total of points for Palace in the Premier League.

He has also qualified teams for the Champions League, something that Moyes has never done.

I mean you could say no? But then I don’t really understand our transfer “committee” anyway. If we get a new manager in this Summer do they get a really heavy say on signings? Because that’s how we ended up in the squad mess in the first place.

I’m still of the opinion he’ll see out his contract here then move upstairs.
Agreed the committee thing is weird. No accountability. There should be one director of football in overall charge like we had with Thelwell

The Director of football needs the ultimate say on the direction the club is going, the manager and the signings. Avoids any short sightedness/ self interest of the manager

Unfortunately I can see Moyes being in charge next year as a lame duck manager. When he was here last time I thought he’d be good upstairs in charge of transfers. Nothing he has done since he left us suggests that’s a good idea

And there is also the small detail of winning the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt and appearing in the German cup final.

I wouldn't call him a "trophy whisperer" - but his relationship with trophies is a lot more intimate than the Moyesiah's.

But it's all moot. We're not an ambitious club. We're a "He'll do" project. 11th-placed security, it is.

Yeah, but other than winning them trophies and beating Liverpool at Anfield and Wembley and also qualifying for the Champions League he is pretty similar to Moyes.

Finishing 4th with Wolfsburg goes under the radar

Yes but does he ‘get’ Everton, would he ensure the high levels of mediocrity we all crave for and would he be able to play at least one player out of position each game and shoehorn ‘Keano’ in at the same time?

Not sure he’s the man for us..

He's not got ginger hair, and we definitely care...
