2025/26 David Moyes

This is a valid point. I would say though teams like Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth have been fine tuning there well run clubs for quite some time now, before we were awful when we were throwing cash at three different number 10’s for example.

So while (and I am not a massive fan of the term personally) a bigger club than them, they scouting and planning is probably years ahead of ours and we are playing catch up.

Look at Bournemouth. Real took there best CB in the summer, City took there best attacker in the winter and they are still doing excellently. They have a plan and a strategy which is (hopefully I assume) we have been doing since the takeover.
You're right they have scouting and development systems in place that have been perfected over years and years, and we won't be able to immediately emulate that. But at the same time we have a far far higher budget than they do. If we show that we're a good location for young players (we aren't atm) we should really be able to outdo them at their own game, without having to sell the players when they get good.

Thing with Bournemouth is they have a progressive manager who actually develops the young players they sign.

Imo Dibling and Aznou would at least be getting minutes here and there for Bournemouth. Kroupi, Alex Scott, etc wouldn't be getting minutes here under Moyes.

That's one of the biggest issues with Moyes, where is the long term planning? You can't spend 100m on young players and then completely bomb them out the team because you don't think they're ready. That's not a sustainable way to run a club

I never like jumping on a manager after a defeat and ive always been very pro Moyes. But i can now start to see some cracks appear. If your going to play the same team every week then you are nullifying the progression of the young prospectdls and they will be vital for the future.

So if you are going to do that then you must be getting results to justify what your doing.

Playing Gueye every match is odd, surely Iroegbunam is the future and should be starting here. Barry looks finished as an Everton player. The full back situation has been an issue all season. I dont mind Mcneil, but he has looked off it the last 2 games now and is another that should have been dropped.

The season is now in the bin and we cant even look into the next season with promise because all the young prospects arent getting a look in or are deemed not good enough. I dont really see how next season is going to be any better because another overhaul is needed.

i get your points mate

a 100 odd mill spend isn’t anywhere
near enough and 30 odd of that went on a none goal scoring striker

The fellas got a glass ceiling mate if you can't see that maybe you have no ambition for the club either.
I think two things can be right at once tbh.

People can like Moyes. He gave us stability and moved us away from being around the sink hole like we’re the past few years. And we have managed to keep a manager for like 18 months which is a bonus. Feeling he has done well to get us near a Europe place this season, but agreeing that if the owners get rid in the summer to move forward can both by good answers.

You may disagree but doesn’t mean anyone is thinking the club can’t move forwards

we used to be the best of the rest under Moyes...

now we are the average of the average mid table under Moyes...

The PL has evolved since his first spell. The club's administration has failed to propel us forward ever since Moyes left. It's hard to dislike him, as he has become part of our modern DNA. Yet, results like today make you wonder if he is the right manager in order to take the club back to being a top 6 team.

Why is he scared to try and win games when we are safe as houses and trying to achieve something for once. What are we achieving playing in this manner
He's not scared. Keeping it tight is all he knows. He's incapable of sending a side out to competently attack. His comfort zone is all about organisation, spirit, and gritty defending. Don't ask him to create. That's why his record of signing centre-forwards is appalling. He hasn't a notion at that end of the pitch.

we lost to spurs who wasn’t in that bottom 3 at that time and had a good away record

Spurs went 3rd after beating us 3-0. It wasn’t this spurs.
Alright disregard the part about spurs then, is anything else I've said really wrong? Have we not rolled over for every big team we've played? Been knocked out both cups by average to bad sides? Failed to really integrate any of our new signings other than Dewsbury-Hall?

I think this is a great point.

There are better teams (Bournemouth, Brighton etc) than there was before 👍
