This a reason we won't win anything. He's far too cautious.

I'm not sure it's even cautious though, removing our best two players in the spine of the squad (Branthwaite and Garner) so they can play fullback. It's sorta illogical. I'll raise my hand if it works, but it seems a bit silly.

Picking lineups like that doesn’t help the atmosphere.

Hopefully it won’t matter come the end of the game, but it’s hard to sometimes find that inner belief when you see defensive lineups with loads of square pegs in round holes like that…

While I don't want to underestimate the importance of fullbacks, especially given our issues at RB, certainly a CB and CM are more influential.

Makes no sense at all.

He moves Garner to right back, which means that the right side can play higher up the pitch with Garners mobility, however, Keane can only play effectively when the team plays deep, which either means that the team will play deep to accommodate this, cancelling out Garner or the team players higher up the pitch, which means Keane gets caught exposed all the time and the team goes to pieces at the back.

Patterson has done a job there every time he`s played and if he had played, it`d meant no Keane and Garner can play in his natural and best position.

Totally baffling.

Putting them there to the detriment of the spine of the team is certainly some leftfield thinking. He might be going back to his hybrid 3 with the ball, that he was playing last season with Mykolenko and O Brien. Garner goes forward Branthwaite becomes part of a back 3, this is the only thing that makes any sense to me.
