I don't find it odd. Most transfers don't happen in June. Not sure why this year would be any different.
Take Barry for instance, hypothetically. Yes he has a release clause and if we activated it, the deal could be done.
But we don't think his value matches the release clause. I hope everyone agrees that we shouldn't be paying more for players than we think they're worth.
So in June, unless Villareal are under pressure to sell before June 30th, there's absolutely no reason to agree to a deal now.
They would be much better off waiting and getting more interest, or waiting Everton out to extract a larger fee.
It's unlikely that waiting will cost them any money, but agreeing to a deal now could.
