Well, I'd hardly call the last 40-odd years a roaring success. Even then we very very nearly managed to get relegated on several occasions.

He's got two years. I'm convinced that he'll have us in solid mid-table next season and if we're playing with a more positive mindset I'll be very happy with that. I can't see him staying beyond his contract though unless something amazing happens and we win a trophy or magically become good enough to make Europe. I think this is basically just a safe rebuilding job and a couple of seasons of stability.
