The target next year should be to improve on this year and to make sure we are nowhere near a relegation battle by new year.

I don't think we can expect too much too soon. We've been in a relegation battle at the turn of the year for 4 years in a row. Thankfully it looks like we've got out of it much earlier this year, but we were still in a lot of trouble only a month ago.

Being in with a sniff of the lower European placed should be the goal. Top half, nipping on the heels. No relegation issues to worry about.

Hard to put a target on next season until we see what the Freidkins are going to spend.
Assuming they spend as we hope they will, then no reason not to be seeking Europe or cup final.
Can’t imagine they will accept much less if they pump £100m or so in.

I think we need higher standards than that. We need a squad overhaul in the summer, so the squad that begins the new season should be massively upgraded. "One or two" simply will not do.

If it is, well, the fact that the current squad was relegation fodder for four years will be here nor there.

The summer will dictate the ambition of the Friedkins and what we can realistically expect next season. Massive change required.

At least 3 or 4 new players to go straight into the team, the rest squad fillers
