Interesting to note how close the midfield was to Dom yesterday.

All season he's been isolated on his own with hardly any support.

Take the first goal as an example, its an 8 yard pass from Gana but he also has six other players forward and supporting.

This is where we will bare fruit...bodies forward and having options instead of just hoping Ndiaye or Dom can do it on their own.
Surely, was undeniably a big part of the problem. A good thing is him/we get chances again, but again 1 of 4 chances in both games missed in those 2 games.

That goal was brillant tbf, on the other hand yet again 2 very good chances missed. Header before the own goal and the one in the 2nd half after Lindström.

Timing is often a problem of him, like the header before the own goal and his big chance in the Villa game, where is foot position is bad and almost ensures to put the ball over the net.

United
Real Sociedad
Sunderland

He;s killed three football clubs.

What surely was a really bad move going to United, one of the biggest clubs back then and enter the heritage of one of the hardest ever jobs to take over, was to get rid of a lot of the people of the former backroom staff that was so well working together.

I understand he wanted to bring his own people to set his own mark, but what SAF made even stronger, was he had really good people in his team that helped him to achieve his successes.

And by that logic, Martinez killed Everton?

Good to see you finally beginning to accept it.
It was a phenomenal battle, all the way until the end, mate!
He lead us like kamikaze pilots... Head first into a US battleship! 😜

@davek Just for you, mate! A late crimbo pressie. 😜

You can download it, blow it up and re-image it. It'll look good above a fireplace, don't you think? 🤔

Spurs will be the bigger story, but it's a mix of both. Certainly them playing one centerback, that they subbed off at half, is tough and to our credit we exploited that. Son, Maddison and Kulusevski were completely absent in the first half, which we also had a part in.

But you compare the performance we gave, with the tactical changes we made, to Dyche: who would have treated this like any other match and sent only DCL forward, it's night and day.
Indeed, I hope that we aren't the story at all for the rest of the season, except maybe a potential banana skin for the top teams and a nice puff piece at the end of the season for the ground move.

I know one win does not make that so, but replicate that game again a half dozen times, and no one below us would catch us. Do it a dozen times, and the players can be in their flip flops for the final few games of the season or trying out some younger players and everyone doesn't lose sleep. I'd take that given what I half dreaded under Dyche.

Sunderland were on the same slide as us pre-Dyche. Expensive short term fixes with multiple managers, then the cash runs out.

But I always thought Moyes came across as defeatist in his time there.

Sociedad were 13th when Moyes joined and finished in a similar spot. Without stats I don't recall impact, but on the moments I saw the table they'd become a meaner both ends of the pitch appeared to improve the session he left.

Utd were and remain a disjointed squad and huge club monetarily that no-one seems to get sufficient time to resolve, not that I care.

I wasn't overjoyed to see Moyes return, but if he stays at 1.5pts a game until May it's been a master stroke 👍
To sum up Sociedad:

His rather defensive tactical approach, which clashed with the more attacking style traditionally associated with La Liga and Real Sociedad. Criticism from the local media and fans for his team's unattractive style of play and lack of progress. This pressure likely added to the instability and undermined his ability to focus on long-term goals.

Sociedad had a talented squad with players like Carlos Vela and Antoine Griezmann (before he left for Atlético Madrid), but Moyes struggled to get the best out of them. His man-management style, which had worked well in England, seemed less effective in Spain. Moyes had limited success in the transfer market during his time at Sociedad. His signings, such as Jonathas and Brum.

The expectations at Real Sociedad were different from Moyes’ previous roles. While he thrived as an underdog at Everton and struggled with the immense pressure at Manchester United, Sociedad required a balance of rebuilding and producing attractive football, which Moyes couldn’t achieve.

Moyes struggled to adapt to the Spanish culture and language. He did not prioritize learning Spanish, which limited his ability to communicate effectively with players, staff, and the media.

They played European football the seasons before.
