Of course, I was exaggerating. The issues ran much deeper than just the manager. The board and ownership have been far too complacent, and it's crazy to think that a shift in attitude alone would suddenly catapult us into fighting for trophies when the club was hanging by a financial thread and being in a relegation battle for the last few years. Dyche came in with a clear focus on stability and avoiding relegation, but he was given a 2,5 years contract, so a bit of expectations and development with some money invested - even it wasn't a lot to what we really need to invest.
It’s like trying to patch up a sinking ship with a few planks of wood and hoping for the best. Changing attitudes is important, but without proper backing and long-term planning, it’s always going to be a struggle. We need a solid foundation, not just a change in vibe. This is why I think that Moyes is a logical appointment. They want to build something, not just like Moshiri to invest tons of money and hope for the best, there is plan behind initially that might work or not work. The results will be seen in a few years.
They tried to back Dyche, but he basically confirmed what a lot of fans were seeing and thinking that he was already maxing out on what he could achieve under the current circumstances, and based where he put the club last season that was not good enough for this season anymore. Dyche was able to stabilize things for a while, I'll thank him for that, but it was overdue to get rid of him.
