Yeah, i do worry if we get beat against spurs and villa the people who didnt want him to begin with will start turning on moyes fast.

I think this is a very divisive appointment (more then i thought it would be tbh) and alot of fans will be desperate to be proven right.

Unfortunately i think moyes is under a massive microscope for the rest of the season by the fanbase.

Hopefully he'll smashing it and we will he safe by april and looking forward to next season and with a good summer of signings looking to push for a European spot
Prefer if he got us safe then the gormless yanks boot the dithering Divvy into space .
The way Moshiri did with the gravy guzzler .

The knives are getting sharpened even now.

TFG divvies really didn't think this one through. Probably advised by Stubbsy and Tony Bellew.

Agreed, didn’t want him here either.
Not that I have any clue who we should have appointed like, but you would hope our new Texan overlords had more of plan than Moyes…..
Exactly, i love how the default setting for some is give us a list of alternatives, that’s not the supporters job, it’s the football clubs. To claim they aren’t out there is just plain ridiculous, the likes of Brighton can do it over and over. We just seem unimaginative and lazy

The standards were lowered by the pathetic board and owner we had. As has been stated many times here, Sean Dyche was a symptom of where we were as a club. Not the cause.

Mad that you think just a difference on attitude has you fighting for trophies when our club was on the brink of financial collapse.

Of course, I was exaggerating. The issues ran much deeper than just the manager. The board and ownership have been far too complacent, and it's crazy to think that a shift in attitude alone would suddenly catapult us into fighting for trophies when the club was hanging by a financial thread and being in a relegation battle for the last few years. Dyche came in with a clear focus on stability and avoiding relegation, but he was given a 2,5 years contract, so a bit of expectations and development with some money invested - even it wasn't a lot to what we really need to invest.

It’s like trying to patch up a sinking ship with a few planks of wood and hoping for the best. Changing attitudes is important, but without proper backing and long-term planning, it’s always going to be a struggle. We need a solid foundation, not just a change in vibe. This is why I think that Moyes is a logical appointment. They want to build something, not just like Moshiri to invest tons of money and hope for the best, there is plan behind initially that might work or not work. The results will be seen in a few years.

They tried to back Dyche, but he basically confirmed what a lot of fans were seeing and thinking that he was already maxing out on what he could achieve under the current circumstances, and based where he put the club last season that was not good enough for this season anymore. Dyche was able to stabilize things for a while, I'll thank him for that, but it was overdue to get rid of him.

you have to admit that most managers want to start in the summer. That's just the way it is

It will when the old excuses get rolled out.
Well, whatever about Villa, there is no excuse for not taking something off Spurs at home. I mean, if a non-league side could avoid defeat in 90...

It's going to be very nostalgic in here on that night if Moyes flops to a poor out-of-form Spurs side. His fans will be playing all the greatest hits for us that night, in terms of excuses.

Tough gig for Davey for sure, but he wasn't brought in to make people in early-middle-age feel warm and fuzzy by his mere presence. He is here to do a better job than Dyche. That means points in those games. If we lose to Villa, fair enough. I don't expect miracles. But I can't see why we couldn't beat Spurs or - at the very least - take two draws from those two games.

Think it was always going to be an uninspiring choice if we had to fire dyche mid season, we probably did have to fire him though so we now need to rally to the end of the season

Don't you think Moyes was just a "he'll do for now" type appointment because Dyche jibbed it?

Well, proven right is here nor there. I want him to prove me very wrong.

However, he is here to get better results than Dyche. If he loses the first two home games, the alarm bells will be shrieking: any rationale for removing Dyche and replacing him with Moyes will immediately be diminished as he begins to run out of matches to keep us up.

He can unite the fanbase with results. I don't expect miracles - but he needs to provide some form of new manager bounce. Losing the first two would be disastrous.

I agree that good attitudes and vibe changes don’t win games. Over the next year I hope the entirety of Everton is overhauled. Let the contracts expire that we should. Do proper research and invest heavily and strategically for the long-term as opposed to immediate splash. Sack just about everyone from Dyche’s time and prior. Replace with strong leaders who all have the same vision of NSNO.

I cant believe he's described his first time here as 'successful'.

That underlines what we always knew about him: he just doesn't get Everton.

Winning zero trophies is not success. It might be to him but it isn't to Evertonians.

No matter how many times we hear the old 'Oh Davie Moyes' song this season (hopefully a lot as it'll mean we're doing ok), this feller will never ever be one of us. He's inauthentic and always will be. An outsider who will remain an outsider.
Its not very often I agree with your posts, but on this occasion yes very much I do agree with you
