2024/25 David Moyes

Yes I do. Right now it seems we are fated to be Sisyphus.

Also you should post about it in my nostalgia thread in the Alehouse.

It's the fact that these new owners walked in and, rightfully, sacked Dyche then took two days to decide the most cliché of all Everton memes and gave David Moyes everything he asked for.

That doesn't sit well. There wasn't any manager search, or succession planning, I doubt we even interviewed another soul or contacted an agent.

Friedkins have literally pulled the "Just give it Moyes for the season" and been had off into 2.5 years. Even Allardyce only managed to squeeze an extra year out of Mosh. It does not bode well imo.

Maybe he turns it around and gets us headed in the right direction but it all feels very lazy and like a wasted opportunity again.
They will have assessed the finances and psr restrictions, perhaps they feel it will take at least 2 seasons before a more progressive direction can be taken

I mean it can, but we're still PSR'd aren't we, so not as quick as you maybe would envisage.
We are but nobody knows exactly what extent yet. There's a pile of contracts ending this summer that should resolve a lot of that and the new ownership and debt restructuring will hopefully further help with that.

That's why I've said six months would be fine but going beyond that is when I would have hoped we would be shaping up to take advantage of that opportunity.

Is it a bit odd the way the club haven't confirmed his contract duration? Pretty sure clubs usually say how long when confirming new manager.

Tried to check their official story for Lampard and Dyche but couldn't find it. The Lampard one just is a 404 because the club never bother to migrate any stories when they change website...

I completely get where you are coming from but I've been reflecting on it today a lot. The squad is going to need a complete overhaul in the summer. I think that is tough ask for Thelwell and a new coach. But it is something Moyes can manage in my opinion. It'll take time.

maybe it has performance targets attached each season so it's not as definitive

Perhaps but that's not the optimistic view I had for the summer.

I get why sacking Dyche was a necessity. I just really don't like what it says about the decision making under the new regime that they've made the easiest of decisions to hire Moyes instead of putting their stamp on it.

People were hoping this was going to be a new way of doing things and here we are bringing out the same old dusty yes men from Christmas Past.

If he had any decency about him.He should be dyeing his hair as we speak so the song dosen't have to change.

Agreed. If we are going back to 2002 we are going all the way back. This would win back some good will.

He will bring back stability and a positive identity. Perfect appointment.

The cryarses need to grow up.

But, but, but they made a decision quickly!

If it was more than a day or two they would be complaining that our owners couldn't make a decision.

Whatever happens, the basement dwellers will be here making a noise, led by their leader DaveK.

It is all painfully predictable, a wet dream for the admins on here. Click, click, click - PLEASE remove ad blockers etc.
