2024/25 David Moyes

His prior goal scoring record in the Prem for Southampton was much better than at Everton though. Cba checking but I imagine the same can be said for most strikers that come here. AJ springs to mind in particular who rather than be in the box finishing was expected to work the channels for Cahill / Fellaini / Yak.

iirc Beattie had Etherington working the wing putting crosses in when at southampton? Strikers need service, an easy example was Ginola and Gillespie firing balls in for shearer and Ferdinand at newcastle.

Signed for £6m, sold for £4m scored circa 15 goals. Didn't get a proper winger in to provide him the service he thrived on.

If all the signings that hadn't worked out we'd got two thirds of our money back for, we'd have paid for half the new stadium with cash.

Beattie was a very strange signing, as he was expected to do the " Road Runner " loan striker role, chasing the ball down all game, that Marcus Bent had done so well at it.

Never in a million years was Beattie that type of player, he was an old fashioned centre forward.

I almost felt sorry for Beattie.

As you say, if he`d had proper wingers to provide him service, rather than being expected to chase every ball, we might have seen a different end product.

Beattie along with Koldrup were two of Moyes biggest mistakes.

Regarding The Gaffer’s birthday today, in his previous stint we could probably guarantee sniveler in chief, pointy Philip Neville to buy him a card and some cakes etc for his birthday, maybe a few balloons around FF etc.
Who do we think would be taking care of The Boss on his birthday this time round?
Harrison may be in with a shout, maybe even Seamus…… does the current squad even have an equivalent of a Master of The Whispers as Moyes inside man?

Etherington was at stoke. Beatie wasn’t great there either.
Think he was busted flush once he signed a big contract with us. Party boy

Just watched that press conference, I can see a back 5 incoming with Keane, Seamus added in.

Whilst I respect Moyes for the recovery this season, if he isn’t even considering bringing on youth players but ‘trying out’ older players who should be finished playing for us, it’s going to be a difficult season next season.

He looked overweight and unfit to me. Though he was stocky build.
Dont suppose headbutting the opposition centre half and getting banned after only being here 5 minutes helped lol.
He'd been a swimmer, and compete as such, made the decision to follow an easier road to wealth in football. Thing is, pro swimmers are in the pool twice a day for a couple of hours a time. Swimmers have to eat a lot of calories just to maintain weight. This is where Beattie earned his appetite. Also gave him the frame he had to knock defenders about (alongside Kevin Davies).

no he knows keane is a flop and fans won’t have it now.

or he’s letting him have what’s left of his contract
