2024/25 David Moyes

Oh yeah... new manager bounce is a fallacy and I don't like it either, for those of you stat-minded out there it's actually regression to the mean
Then obviously(?)
with a really crap team, Leicester Southampton the old approach won't/hasn’t done much good and/or the new approach is the wrong approach...and The Dyche Alternative was off the table as he was with up.
Basically
1) there has to be something there to bounce.
2) the new 'Bouncer' has to have the right bat, racket, nouse to bounce it

I think this is accurate.

12th if we keep key players fit/have a good run.

17th if we don't.

The margins between them places aren't a lot.

This time last season, we earned the exact same points as now. We just never felt safe because of the deductions.

We then had a tremendous run of results from April.

Could easily become 1 win in 12, looking at our next 3 games.

Not surprised, personally.

I don't think any manager in world football has this squad top half of the league.

Carlo Ancelotti had a squad containing James, Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Iwobi, Gordon, Kean, Allan, Gomes, Digne, Mina

And came 10th. That’s probably the best manager of all time with a much better squad than the current one.

FFS must be something I haven’t seen!!!
I think the line “what he’s offering” reflects that it’s not necessarily his technical footballing ability. He offers work rate, athleticism, tackles, disruption of the other teams game which, when we have not had availability of players, we have needed.

Ndiaye has made more tackles though this season so hopefully we do see doucoure start to drop out.

Of course it is, and Moyes is doing a good job. Without wanting to just go over the same ground though, the point is that we have returned to very much bottom half form over the last couple of months and that's the point he's making. We had a run of form that was genuinely good, but we've now been in a much lesser run for quite some time. 9 points from the first 4 games was fantastic, 5 points from the last 6 less so. Again, that's not Moyes's fault, it's just the level of squad we have.
That’s fair, realistically if we had N’Diaye and McNeil fit I’d imagine a few draws would be wins, but our squad’s paper thin and missing our more creative players was a killer

Ndiaye does all that too and can actually play football.
moyes blind spot when it comes to certain players is nothing new though and one reason he never made it as a top class manager.

Looks like the club and particularly Moyes have finally accepted we are safe from relegation.
His statement about Branthwaite , plus Gana being offered a new contract looks like the planning for life for Premier lge footie in the New Stadium.

Did a great job getting us safe. A great job.

The job spec is changing now, though. He will need to, too - or be changed.

Do you or anyone on here know what he has to work with? I wouldnt be to quick to replace just yet. He's not perfect by a long way but at least he's not Sean Dyche. We'd become an embarrassment under him. White flag waved before we'd even kicked off.
We're competetive again.

I worry that Moyes see us differently to West Ham, yes he paid way over the top for some average players at West Ham. But he bought technically gifted players. Did he see his time their as short and thought I will spend the most I can and try and get some success straight away.

Does he look at Everton differently, like it’s his club and his money and he needs to be careful and a slow re-build and thinking he will be here for 5/6 yrs. I hope I’m wrong, but I didn’t want him back, because he is a negative manager and I don’t believe they change their spots. I also will be calling for his head asap, if he targets certain players over the summer and this time next year, we’re a defensive, tough, physical side hard to beat, but not much flair and hovering around 12th/13th

A slow rebuild is fine if the investment is in elite level young players.

Really dont want him spending as he did at West Ham -- over the odds for nearly every signing. It must be short termism as he left them in a right mess.

Sunderland as well. Frightening.

Sack him now!

He should be left...on the left. Dyche actually did well keeping him out wide so he has more space.

The real question is why is Alcaraz not starting centrally...

...oh and surely Moyes doesnt believe what hes saying there?
