He'll know in his mind that we're nearly there. But can't for a second let standards slip. I don't expect us to take on average 2 points per game long term but the standards set in the last 4/5 games need to be the normal benchmark now, and not just a temporary improvement.
He seems a much more confidant manager while still realistic.

My issue with him has always been how he views success and how it played a part in the mentality of this fan base from his first time here, which for me personally, eventually got infuriating and ended up getting tired with it .
Since he has returned he has called us a huge club and tonight he called us a big club. Someone will likely correct me but I don’t recall him saying anything like that in his first time here. He says these things yet he’s lauding winning a semi final against Man Utd, id understand that if he had won the cup that year but for me it’s not what a big club should be reminiscing about much.
Never felt he wouldn’t get some good results and that crowd reaction tonight gave me goosebumps imagining what it would be like actually winning things domestically and in Europe.
The club have been fortunate to retain the fan base it has in my opinion and long term i don’t want to see a return of this “finishing 8th” is great kind of thinking that put the club back substantially.
I hope he’s had time to reflect from his first spell , him and the new owners see eye to eye on what success actually is for what he now says himself is a big club.

I'd say 40, in his last spell as manager, no matter how good a start to a season we had, his stock answer when asked if he thought we could challenge for honours was always. 'lets get to 40 points first and then we'll see'.

I don’t think he ever accepted eighth. The goal was always to finish as high up the table as we could.
If you take his last nine seasons (after that yo-yo period when we chased stability) we had an average league placing of 6.5, which reflects the high level of consistency we had despite a relative lack of resources.

All I’d like is history not to repeat itself and long term we actually do have some kind of success.
As I said , the crowd reaction to the equaliser gave me goosebumps and got me thinking what it would be like if we actually were successful.
It’s not intended to be negative, it’s just how I feel about it.

Relative to the budget he was working with (which was somewhere around 12th/13th biggest in the league at the time), his eleven years here were a success.
Pointless going over old ground now, but while I understand how people could grow tired of his approach etc, the glass ceiling which people said existed as a result of Moyes's attitude was really a glass ceiling as a function of the budget he was working with Vs everyone else
Anyway, he won't be here long enough for this to become something which is revisited. In the short to medium term, we'd all accept knocking on the door of the top 3rd of the league
I hate the way he left then treated the club years ago.That will never change.
But gotta say I'm mighty pleased & grateful he is here now.

I don’t see it as success and in my original post i mentioned the fan base mentality I experienced along with it. It played a part in putting the club back years. I don’t want it repeated is all.
It’s in all our interest him and the new owners do well and im not ignorant enough to suggest it’s a quick fix. Long term actual success , football is a competition to win, or it’s supposed be i think.

Honestly I am a bit sad our relationship with Moyes somehow got that bad after he left us for Man Utd. Let's be honest, Moyes would have to be the most stupid man alive to not take the job after Fergie with that massive contract, and after he probably really took us as high as it was realistically possible. Yeah, it seemed like we may have even been thinking it may be a decent idea to move from him at 2013, but let's be honest: with resources available Moyes did a fantastic job here. Just remember how things were before he took over... We started to take some things for granted, especially when things got even better during that first Martinez season when Moyes got sacked and we finally won at OT.
Moyes clearly is a good manager, who surely is not ideal, and may have failed in some of his jobs, but I am actually glad he is back with us and has a chance to possibly get us back into the Europe from relegation fights for 2nd time. He clearly gets and cares for this club, and some worse days will surely come, but I think it is quite clear Moyes deserves some credit already. Dyche nonsense was debunked quickly: if Moyes can keep Liverpool out of all teams at their lowest xG all year long, even Dyche's words about defence are absolute nonsense. Plus we actually had some attack plan with the same players.
We are not going down with Moyes.
