2024/25 David Moyes

While I agree, he done a better job than the previous 8 managers we’ve had, and they were in much better positions here. I think the club are just trying to get behind him to create an atmosphere after the fans feelings from Dyche’s last few months.

It seems to be the modern way. Football clubs media operations seem to be run on spin these days, like they were political parties. Everything has to be framed in the context that makes every situation look better than it is.

I suppose you just have to tune it out. There is no need for the level of hype but I guess those people salaried to produce it have to come up with something.
I'm not really talking about how happy they should be with the appointment or the volume of content produced, just the focus on him being some sort of returning hero. Posting stuff like 'the story continues' is a bit weird for me for someone like Moyes coming back, i'm just surprised they're running with that angle so much rather than him just being a decent appointment in his own right.

Let's hope he can keep our defensive shape while improving the attack. I fear we don't have the midfield to get the ball up quicker
The team are well versed in getting a 9 iron out hoofing it over the top to bypass our midfield anyway 😂

Its the break down when we loose the ball how do our midfield react and how quickly. The Villa game unfortunately isn't a free hit so I'm hoping he's seen enough to work out a plan just to get us through that game.

If he goes the 'tried & trusted' route of 4-1-4-1 he may identify Gana as his 'new' Lee Carsley who sits just in front of the centre halves. We then have the likes of Mangala, Armstrong, Garner & Iroebunam to deploy a bit further up the field.

Interestingly - I've just found out that his win % at West Ham (the second time) was higher than his Everton stint..

Please, just PLEASE, no more references to 'plucky Everton punching above their weight' or Moyes, himself, talking of 'taking knives to a gunfight'.

We want and need to compete at the highest level and face whatever other clubs we come up against as no better or bigger than us. Moyes' mindset needs to be one of instilling confidence rather than simple acceptance within his players and the fanbase. No more playing down our chances of winning before a game even kicks off but actually bigging up his players with expectations that they can and will win so that if they don't they feel and understand the disappointment as much as the fans and want to do better next time. We haven't had that sort of psyche these past seasons so now is the time and, hopefully, we have the man to bring that mentality back into the Club.

Wasn't a stranger to 4-2-3-1 either during that era IIRC, depending on who was available in midfield

If people really don't rate him them that's fine, but those causing a fuss over the baines/fellaini stuff really need to grow up a bit.
For me, it wasnt even that bad, he was a manager of another club and he tried to do what he did while at Everton, get players on the cheap.

This idea that he owed us something is laughable and has no basis in reality.
