David Moyes - all reaction here

I think it'll be about 8 games into next season. I think they've accepted they're not doing anything this season and will give him one more transfer window.

He could well be, but what would be the point in sacking him now? They have no chance of top four anyway

Very generous. Pretty much every other club would have sent him packing.

This season has been an utter write off, probably couldn't have gone much worse but he's a far better manager than what he's shown in the past 8 months.

6 year contract he is going nowhere. The owners will give him to the summer no matter what happens.

United are staunch in their principles of retaining managers for the long haul. They won't sack Moyes in his first season no matter what. They haven't got the Champions League money to be paying off over 5 years of a very expensive managerial contract.

That Champions League money is crucial to their debt repayments and they need all the money they can muster to seriously rebuild to challenge the top 4 next year. Losing Vidic, Giggs. Carrick, Fletcher, Evra, Van Persie all the wrong side of 30. Young, Valencia, Nani are blatantly not good enough. Not to mention the likes of Rafael, Kagawa, Hernandez, Januzaj, De Gea who they may struggle to keep hold of next year with no Europe.

Absolutely mate. I just don't think the players want to play for him so he's not got much hope.

God knows who they would go for, may be Klopp from Dortmund but would he go with no CL? Moyes has completely lost it and most of their fans are even thinking it would be better to go out of the CL on Wednesday rather than draw Bayern, Real Madrid or Barcelona in the next round and be embarrassed big time. I reckon those teams could score 10 goals over 2 legs against them.

Some of them have definitely spat their dummy out (Van Persie), but then I think he has a few on his side that really want to make it work for him.

I don't think he'll ever win trophies like Ferguson did, but if he can hold on until the summer then he can definitely turn it round and rebuild his own reputation as well as the clubs.

It would be brutal. Honestly if they did draw them then he'd have to show some balls and drop Van Persie/Rooney and play Fellaini off the striker in a 5 man midfield otherwise they probably wouldn't see the ball.

Is he though? At that level I'm not so sure. I really didn't understand the appointment if I'm honest with you.

To take a team from the clutches of relegation to a steady top 6 club over the course of 11 years is a great achievement but it bears no relevance to the Man United job where you are expected to challenge in every single competition, working with the very best players and with a big budget.

Here, he had neither if those things - nor the expectation, and he has no experience of winning titles, or winning anything for that matter. It is a completely different skill set for a manager, two very different roles. It's very similar to when Roy Hodgson took over at Liverpool.

Think about it from the players perspective, last season if Sir Alex tells you to do something, you do it without question because he is Sir Alex, he has won countless trophies and knows what is required to win. And that is where Moyes falls down with this United team because I'm not sure they really respect him. And if they don't respect him then he can't motivate them, which seems to be why they look so abject and flat these days.

Is that Kevin Sheedy account on Twitter really him? Not a massive fan of Moyles if so.

Not verified but it seems genuine enough. Would take a sad individual to make it seem as real as it does.

Obviously there was issues with Moyes playing Barkley but I always thought he took a great interest in the academy and developing players so hearing that from Sheedy strikes me as strange. Really bad on Moyes part if true.

You could be right, mate. It is difficult to take orders from someone who's achieved comparatively little in the game. If that's the case and they don't respect him then he should walk away now because he's on a hiding to nothing.

And replace him with who? Who's out there that's available and wants the job?

The only viable option at this stage which has been touted would be for Ferguson to come back as interim and guide them to a strong league finish and Champions League finish.

Start afresh in the summer and find someone with proper winning pedigree, apt for the top job in club Football.
