Sorry if this has been talked about too much already but I'm new to GOT so you'll have to forgive me. What do all you Brits think of Beckham coming over here to the states and playing? I think they (the MLS) totally mishandled the situation and screwed the pooch. They could have used it as a catalyst to make football grow over here and they didn't and it pisses me off because it could have been up with American football, baseball and basketball. It's really growing over here among high school and college but that's it. The dumb asses at MLS have screwed up the system with their damn draft. It amazes me sometimes how our country tries to reinvent the ******* wheel all the time. They need to follow others examples and look at the way they do things. Especially when it comes to football. I also hate how people try and compare the MLS to the EPL. The MLS all-star team could hack it in the Championship much less the EPL. Sorry if I'm being preachy. It's been a while since I talked football with anyone. A guy I worked with retired and he was from Glasgow, huge Rangers fan! We talked all day about football. Anyway, any thoughts?

I think that despite his age he is still a great player, and too good for the MLS really...The italian league is perfect for him - with them all being in their 35s and 40s, so i do hope he stays there, or a club in the PL take a risk on him.

However saying that, i dont think the MLS is very good, and him playing could only improve the stature of the competition. Which is good, and may encourage better players from America...but that'll take years.

He's a better player in Italy than MLS. There were probably 10-20 players who maybe weren't better but more effective than him in the league. One reason was his attitude, he just sulked the season away last year. Another reason is that you don't need pinpoint crosses in the MLS.

MLS should let him go but not on the cheap like Milan is trying to do.

Yeah I think he was just another "good player" in the MLS. Our game doesn't suit him well. They definitely don't need to sell him for peanuts....the only good thing I've seen from his arrival is that some older European players have shown up, and that definitely helps the game here :D

Lost some respect for him to be honest. He went there for the money and fame, or at least that's what his wife told him. He should stick it out and honour his commitment to American football.

Never even rated him has a great player to be honest, a good player yes but not great. Great on the dead ball obviously and a great role model. His move to the states has been somewhat of a disaster. It is clear he went there for the fame, glitz and glamour rather than the football, sorry "soccer".

I totally agree. It's fun to watch people's face when I call it football...... :D

I heard this sometime ago.

Winston Churchill came over and he went to watch a American Football game he enjoyed the time but thought it was a take off from Rugby. His most stirring comment was he disliked them stopping the game for all those huddled commitee meetings.:lol:

Spoken from a true politician.(y)
