Surprised at how touchy folk are over Beckham to be honest, I just thought it was really funny that someone would instigate a documentary with themselves as the subject. Its the most partridge event of the year

Whether he's desperately seeking that knighthood or just keen to repair his image after profiting from the deaths of immigrant workers in Qatar remains to be seen.

Here’s a good account of Hoddle’s performance at World Cup 98

By the time he left most of the squad hated him apparently. He also did that autobiography straight after the World Cup and threw some players under the bus

Good read that

I'm very nostalgic for Le Tournoi

Glad it got a mention

That tournament made you think that England had a real chance the next year

Not sure anyone is touchy, or is that deflection on your part?

It wasn’t a great documentary, and you’re right, it’s strange and slightly awkward watching knowing that he’s basically created the whole thing himself. I came out of it respecting his ability and work ethic more than before, but really not liking him as a person.

No? What was it then? A header? An overhead kick? lol.

I wasn't having a go at the goal, which was obviously brilliant, but the commentary about it claiming it was the first time anyone had ever scored a goal from their own half, and saying even Pele had tried it and failed lol
I get your point but Bailey's was a long punt into the opposition box rather than a shot. Beckham's was a shot looking to beat the keeper. It's a strange thing for the narrator to say though - they can't possibly know given all the games that have been played at professional level over the years.

Tim Howard v Bolton is my favourite anyway. Only complaint is his 'Goalkeepers Union' refusal to celebrate.

Wayne Rooney's goal against West Ham was a proper volley and probably the best example of scoring from your own half. The fact that Joe Hart had gone for a stroll is neither here nor there lol
