Sadly, he's a liability.

I say sadly because he's a very good player, it's just he shouldn't be part of any of our plans because his injury record is disruptive.

Needs to be shown the door, hopefully any contract talk is appearance based.

I agree completely with this.

On his day, he's our best midfielder in my view. Those days are very far between though; not because of consistency, but obviously injury.

For the wages he'll be on, he needs to be a first team squad member to be relied on as part of our tactical strategy, not a bit part.

Only IF, when is he not injury free????

In fairness he can hardly help a cruciate injury and a metatarsal. Cahill used to break his metatarsal all the time yet you never heard 'injury prone' being bandied around for him. I think the only annoying spell he has was the 12/13 season where he seemed to get a succession of hamstring strains, then again so did half the team that year with Mirallas most memorably limping off at Bolton after a few mins.

I think he's the type of player who needs game after game like he got in 12/13. Little cameos playing number 10 just seem to ruin him. He obviously takes a while to get fit so let's get him ready for the start of the season and play him for a good run of games. Barring more horrific bad luck I'm sure he'd stay fit.

He still has a year on his contract? Then I don't see EFC needs to enter into contract extension negotiations. Look at it at the end of the season...see how many games he managed to lace his boots for.

Seeing as he's got a year left, surely the sensible thing to do is see how he gets on next season? We'd risk losing him for nothing like, but at the moment, he's hardly worth anything anyway.

;)

Heavens why talk of contract extension, RM this is so stupid, wake up will you. In fact we should talk of cancelling his existing contract, he is never going to be wholly fit enough to do many games.
