Darron Gibson

We never saw a proper in form arteta pulling the strings like he did in previous seasons, I think everyone agrees he went a little stale.

It's just my opinion that for us to move forward we need creativity not just a player that grafts alot and can smash a long ranger. Don't get me wrong I really like gibson but would prefer an in form arteta mk II with Fellaini.

Thing with Gibson is that he's a solid central midfield, does the basics well and most importantly is a forward thinking player.

And when you compare that to the out of form players and defenders we've often had in midfield its no wonder we improve as a team.

Not being harsh on Gibson, he's done well and every team needs to small links in the chain to allow the bigger links to do their thing but its not the fact that he himself has been playing brilliantly but he allows the rest of the team do so.

Ideally we'd need a player who could do what he does but better. Like an in form Arteta but we can't afford one.

Darron Gibson is a good player. End of.

I agree, and I also agree with the comment of smaller links in the chain to allow the bigger links to play- good way of putting it.

I just believe for any team to have a real go there needs to be some creativity in the centre of the park- all of the top teams have one if not two players that can dictate the game by putting their foot on the ball and create.

Our creativity can come from Pienaar on the wing or Osman/someone else behind Jelavic. It doesn't need to be in the centre. City's centre midfield is Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure - while Toure is a brilliant player he isn't massively creative in the way Iniesta is. City's creativity comes from Silva and Nasri on the wings, so so could ours.

Gibson is the new Lee Carsley. Stocky, Irish and bald.

Completely changed my opinion. He's a good footballer, plays it how you should, keeps us ticking over. I think him and Felli are fine there as long as we get someone that isn't Tim bloody Cahill in the hole. Only concern is his knees.

You can tell he's been trained up at Utd with his calmness on the ball. His ability to control the ball and ping a cross-field pass with 2 touches is brilliant. Hopefully his partnership with Fellaini will kick start our season at the end of summer rather than the end of Christmas next season.

Wasn't Arteta that kind of player and it never worked?

This partnership is working nicely, Gibson is cleaning up and spreading the play, whilst the big man is his usual marauding self. The creative player should then go behind Jelavic, something we're missing.

This!.

Someone like this.

Is he still any good??

Have you seen any of the other video clips after this one?. The lads still definitely got it! On free, sign him up Moyes!.

Good solid performance today. Was spreading play out wide, tidying up at the back and getting a few shots in. Typical of his performances for us this season really.
