We got him cheap becuasce he hasn't proven himself and his contract is up at the end of the season.

Why on earth would the club forgo some control over the futures of Brakley, Rodwell or Fellaini in order to sign a pretty average midfielder?

He was injured when we bought him ffs. So no, same rules dont apply

And we are desperate. I wouldn't be surprised if blue bill had to suck a dick to sign Gibson on a low fee

I know what you mean, however the buying club always dictate the price in football transfers.

Unless you buy off Spurs...where Daniel Levy has some sort of hex over everyone and gets a massive fee each time he sells.
 
Just out of interest - how much do people think a reserve player (allbeit for Man Utd) who cant get a game in the first team, has fallen out with the manager and who's contract expires in the summer should cost?

Erm about 250k up front, 250k after 5 months and bit extra if we qualify for the Europa League Trophycup competition. And nothing else.
 
Bargain that, absolute bargain. 500k is nothing, even for us. Surely we can afford a couple more contract expiree's this January. Rodallega, preferably.

Such an agreement would be illegal under Competition Law and UEFA Transfer regulations.

It would also probably breach the Companies act since the board must ensure a sale provides maximum value to the other 25% of the minor shareholders at the club.

If any "prior" agreement didn't do that it could force the boards removal under the Companies Act.

But again it would be almost impossible to prove that that situation was giving maximum value to shareholders with counter offers able to come in. Hence illegal.

The authorities also would not like shady deals going on and fixing of transfer prices outside of an open market.
 
Market distortion lids is a big big no no.

People go to jail for that sort of thing. Hence there cannot be any sort of verbal or otherwise agreement with another club.

If it were proven EFC boardmembers had excluded offers from other quarters which could be higher, EFC boardmembers could face the severest of consequences

I for one am watching the board like a hawk at the minute and if something does happen I'm going to report them to the FA/UEFA and the competition commission.

I'd also support the other shareholders suing the board for not ensuring maximum value to shareholders in such a dodgy event. Without ensuring other offers can come in from other quaters too. So any fee is maximised

Well...in a world where managers and agents get massive bonuses for selling/buying players...i wouldn't rule anything out.
