consistently having to play Johnny and neville in midfield together shows we need another CM. Felli and Rodwell are injury prone, and Barkley is not ready. Gibson may not be the type of player we all wanted to see, but he knows what the PL is about, has an eye for a pass and a good shot on him. HE is energetic and puts his foot it. I think he will be a good signing, and I would rather see a CM in center mid than a defender

He's looking to get in the Republic of Ireland team for the Euros so he's going to be doing what he can to get there. He can't be any worse than Neville in midfield, so for £500k +future fees, it's a good deal.

spot on mate, if it means getting Neville and Heitinga out of midfield it's worth it.

Players don't arrive at Everton touched by the magic. Give him a season and he'll be one of us.

Defintely worth the support now that he's wearing the Blue! If the sum of 500k is correct then I'm more than happy. I'm just worried it will turn out to be nearer the 2,5mil mentioned elsewhere, much like the Yakubu and Beckford transfers. That's to do with the Board's negotiating though, and no slight on Gibson. Hope he can provide some cover for Rodwell and Fellaini, and push the former on in his development.

Very insightful comments from Darron.

United win loads, Everton dont. Still a big club.

Thanks for that, Darron. You clearly seem chuffed about your move

I hope all the negative posters on this thread realize they're going to look bit daft when this turns out to be one of Davy's best deals of all? OK, I'm making positive assumptions but Darron looks like a Moyes' player to me (i.e. work rate) and a very good replacement for Nev.

Welcome Darron, there are a lot of us Evertonians who wish you a long and successful Everton career. You won't find better supporters anywhere (y)

Biggest complaint from United fans is he has no work rate

Not many people seem to like him, but ive liked him when ive seen him play for United, but cant help but think its abit of a waste of money. We are covered in centre midfield, we have Fellani and Rodwell - and if any of them get injured we have Osman, Cahill, Neville, Bily who can all cover.

Just another waste of money - just like the Mcfadden deal, we need a defender and a striker...

...But anyway, i have hope for Gibson

We could sign 3 defenders and 2 strikers and we'd STILL have to play hoofball because, audience say it with me:

Our
Midfield
Can't
Pass
Forwards

To be perfectly honest, we have a very high quality midfield, imo its down to what we do on the training pitch, because Fellaini, Rodwell, Drenthe, Coleman, Donovan, Osman and Bilyaletdinov all have quality - none seem to use it

How does this signing make no sense? We're short at the back right now, our strikers aren't scoring, but ANYONE who has been to an Everton game this season knows our biggest problem is the brick wall in midfield. We have no movement and no creativity. Our front line gets nothing but long balls because whenever a ball is played through the middle it cannons back again.

United fans can **** off. They're the ones who said Diego Forlan was pony. They're the ones who said Federico Macheda was the next Van Nistlerooy. They haven't got a clue.

I know we don;'t have any movement in midfield, and thats been the problem for the last 2 years, even with Arteta in the centre there was no change, and Arteta is echnically a million miles better than Gibson.

Its ok saying there is no movement in midfield, but what about up top, generally having cahill and saha standing does not give the midfield any options to slip a pass down the channels and create space that way, a stangent forward line will always affect how team plays, and then the team become sloppy and lazy. If Felli, Rodwell, Barkely, Osman or even Arteta and Pienaar (when there) come short to collect a ball and then find no movement from the forward line then they will alwats resort to plan B, pass back to the centre backs and a hoof forward. Darren Gibson is not going to improve that, Xavi would not be able to help becuase the team is set up wrong and the forwards have no movement; thats the real issue and why i said it was a pointless signing.

I'd rather, probably with the majority of blues, see Barkley given a run in the team than waste what little part of a very small transfer budget on Gibson.

And regardless of the Macheda or Forlan, the majority of United fans still pay there money to watch him week in week out (when he plays) so have a better understanding then any of us who have only seen him a handful of time on the TV.

didn't he leave twitter 24hrs after joining?

Wait til Lineker lid sees this.
