No, kopite is slating a fella who hasnt even put the jersey on yet. Nobody really can gauge how good or bad he is gonna be by the few fleeting glimpses they have seen of him in a utd shirt. Give him a run of games in.

That's funny, I thought it was supporting Liverpool. I hope Gibson turns out to be the Irish Messi, I really do, but he's more likely to be the Irish Linderoth.

Good luck to the lad. Don't know enough about him to pass judgement on whether he's any good. But like all new signings we should give him chance and time to settle.

Now, a striker please!

At the end of the day, we have signed a 24 year international player for half a million quid ,, he has played ( albeit not consistently ) at the highest level with united and SAF must have trusted him to be good enough in champions league semi finals etc,,,,, give the lad a chance and a run of games to prove himself,, like somebody has said allready, he may not be a messi or a silva but also he is no phil neville . Personally I think it's a decent signing.

Don't know if anybody has already mentioned this, but apparently Gibson, Rooney and Evans were caught off their heads on Coca-cola over Christmas. £500k does seem cheap for a United player...

Perfect Comment

So Moyes publicly said he wanted a striker before January madness had begun; then after the Spurs game he stated his priority had changed and we now need a defender.....however we end up with a midfielder. People best prepare for the departure of Felliani, Barkley or Rodwell very soon because this signing makes no sense.

There is a reason why a lot of people are ****ging of Gibson before he has played and it all comes from comments from United fans who clearly hate the fella and have publicly said he his one of the worse players to have graced Old Trafford. Just because SAF played him in the CL semi-final means nothing; David Moyes stands by Cahill, Neville, Saha week in week out when everybody else can clearly see they are not good enough

500K isn't bad and he's young so I'm not going to knock that signing. Please be quality Mr. Gibson.

The atmosphere around the club / fans is such at the moment, that unless we made a genuine marquee signing, we're not going to get overly excited about anyone. Certainly, Gibson isn't a name or a position we've been hankering for over the past few weeks / months. If Moyes brought in a Championship player like he did with Beckford, some of us groaned, some us smiled. But with Gibson, we haver an inkling to his work rate, play making and goal scoring ability - none of which ingrains any sort of confidence in a team that needs a huge a morale and energy boost. I often wonder how the players must feel the morning after a player signs - they are more than likely just as equally confused and disappointed, as us.

But, although we have strikers who cannot score, midfielders who cannot pass or open up defences and defenders whose only roll is to foul and hoof the ball up-field - All is not lost. We've had similar predicaments put before us, Senderos was a dubious signing as was Lucas Neil, but now and then, the likes of Castillo arrive and provide that physical presence we often lack in our diminutive current players. But what we really need is some creativity - we never replaced Arteta or Manny Fernandes ( sadly missed) and our current player with any footballing brain, goes back to L.A in a few hours.

Midfield Player = yes, but one who will bring something to the table and not just be a journey man / bench warmer

Striker = Priority

Centre Half = Experienced, fearless and one who can find a player and not Row FF of the Main Stand with every clearance.

A wait of two and a half years and our Arteta replacement is bargain bin signing Darron feckin Gibson. FFS.

Although, for the price he'd be worth it, except you know for a fact that this is basically our marquee signing for the next 12 months.

If he came in as well as other people I'd not be that fussed, but as it is I'm still just bored about Everton.

How does this signing make no sense? We're short at the back right now, our strikers aren't scoring, but ANYONE who has been to an Everton game this season knows our biggest problem is the brick wall in midfield. We have no movement and no creativity. Our front line gets nothing but long balls because whenever a ball is played through the middle it cannons back again.

United fans can **** off. They're the ones who said Diego Forlan was pony. They're the ones who said Federico Macheda was the next Van Nistlerooy. They haven't got a clue.
