If there was that much interest in him then it's surprising that no one else has come in with a £500k bid. Personally, I don't think he's that much of an urgent acquisition and I would have taken my chances in the summer, I think.

His wages would be higher in the summer as well, being on a Bosman, so would probably end up costing just as much if not more.
