Gibson was certainly badly teated by Trappatoni. Although playing a key role in the midfield of a top premiership team he couldn't get a game for his country ahead of average championship players...it made no sense.

But then not bringing Coleman to the Euros didn't make much sense either.

Easy question.. Why is he always injured??

Some players are just 'injury prone'....sometimes it can be cured, sometimes it haunts their whole career. Sometimes its down to lifestyle. Unfathomable.
Id like some of the 'oldies' to comment on this, but although years ago there were some high profile injuries....Tommy Ring broke his leg, Derek Dooley, a few more, I don't remember too many regular sick notes, hamstrings, cruciates, etc. The game requires exta fitness today, I suppose, and of course diagnosis is to a higher standard. Maybe its just another thing that was 'different in the old days'

Few pints and a spliff before the game topped up with injections and they were ready to go :) Joking aside they were not specific injuries in the old days just a case of leg injury, knee injury, thigh injury etc but it must of been hell trying to return to training after a few weeks rest to test the injury out weeks before due.

Some players, despite their ability, do not have a body suited to the rigours of professional football.

If you throw in any of a poor lifestyle, bad luck, hit n miss diet, lazy preparation or a few other things in the mix with that you see why some players are never really free of injury for long.

I'm not suggesting Gibson is these things BTW.

I can't honestly remember Roy Vernon being out injured when he played for us, could be wrong like but I know he enjoyed a
Ciggie and a pint and there was very few players faster than him over the first 10/15 yards.

Vernon was always in the old Royal Tiger club on a Friday night, with an orange juice on the bar and pints of lager on the shelf underneath the bar, and inevitably Catterick or one of his henchmen would be in to get him to go home. Catterick always had the clubs in town scoured on a Friday night for Everton players.
