Dark times lads, what now?

Nah, this is just a confidence issue I feel. We have more quality than 13 of the other teams in the league. I personally would play Mirallas up front, he's done it before at Olympiakos and is pacey.

I said this about kev in another thread somewhere. Start him up top with niasse and see what happens, not a lot to lose at this point

So it was an experienced right back vollying it into the top corner yesterday?

It's not the experienced striker up front who has not scored a single goal all season yet still starts every week?

To be honest even the fact we persist with lewen up front is basically eliminating our goal threat before we even have one. We have a striker on the bench most weeks with 4? League goals to his name so far, at least 3. He doesnt get a start over 29 year old lewen who this time last year was in our reserves. It is a major issue, we have a lad there who scored 14 goals last season in la liga not even making the squad yet lewen continues up front ? And we wonder why we have no attacking threat at all?

Agreed - just don’t see what he offers at this stage...

I reckon Baines, Jagielka and Williams has something to do with the results we are getting at the moment. What Kenny did could happen to anyone, the lad shouldn't have been anywhere near the CB position that should be Williams or Jagielka dealing with that. You know as well as I do that Rooney is a bigger problem in the team than he is out of it, he would get in the way of Pickford if he could use his hands. Schneiderlin is 27, Mirallas is 30, Lennon 30, Gueye is 28, Siggurdsson's 28, these are all experienced players supposedly in their prime but you want to blame a 20 year old striker and a lad playing his 5th game for a team who are playing with zero confidence?

Yes I do. Because they should be nowhere near the first team so whether you blame the manager or the club for putting them in that position it still results in them being weak links in the team

Stick niasse up there, play Martina and if they don't perform they can shoulder it at least. Kenny has looked out of place for most of his performances and lewen is not a premier league striker right now. Just because they play doesn't mean they are ready.

Its the senior players who need to shoulder the expectancy on them not throw young lads in there and then wonder why they have no confidence. Lewen has been expected to go from league one to first choice striker via the reserves in less than a year, Kenny as talented as he is needs experience away from a team at the top level in crisis to learn his game. Benny will go the same way as them if unsworth keeps throwing him in there.

He has essentially jumped up 2 divisions in less than a year and he has barely had one birthday in the process. I just don't follow this thought process like others that just because a young player is picked for the first team that all of a sudden they are ready. Davies is even struggling now and he stepped up last season. It crushes confidence and does them more harm than good.

Plus the fact we have a striker as I say who has scored and we persist with one who hasn't in the league. Imagine reading about a club who constantly played a striker who didn't score despite one that did was fit and available? That's us! And lewen has barely done anything to justify his place in the team so to give him so much expectancy is going to grind him into the ground

Have to agree with this. Don't get me wrong we do have a talented youth side but they seemed yesterday to get bullied all over the place.

It's not as bad as you might think. Unsy still hasn't been in charge of a home fixture yet. Not saying we are going to smash all comers but we just need to get a bit lucky or the other team doesn't play well. Once the confidence ball starts rolling we should be ok.

Technically it's still just that Burnley result that we should have done better. We lost to Leicester twice the season before last, how many promoted teams have we drawn to away in the past that we thought were easy wins? (talking about the Brighton result)

Of course if we still haven't won in 4 games time please ignore all of the above.
